Hi, I have my new iBook in hand! A BIG speed improvement over my old 700mhz G3 iBook. I do have a question or two though:
1. When waking from sleep, the CD drive motor "whirrs" like it's loading or ejecting a CD... is this normal? My old iBook didn't have a slot drive so I don't know if this is normal or not.
2. My friend's 800mhz G4 iBook has a real "wavy" or "warped" looking bezel surrounding the LCD... mainly on the left side (when looking at the lcd). If you run your finger up you can clearly feel it is not flat. Well, my new iBook arrived Friday with the same problem. My old G3 wasn't like this. Is this a coincidence or are they all like that now? Did anyone here manage to get it repaired by Apple? Just curious! Thanks!

I don't have a whirring on my new iBook or my powerbook.

hmmm.. on the Apple Discussions board at apple.com/support people with the slot loading drive are reporting that when waking from sleep, the drive load/unload motor "comes to life briefly" and that it's normal.

My Combo drive does the very same thing

Can check your Energy Saver settings and adjust them to see if that helps any (try Automatic).
