Somehow, my iPhone case is sort of 'exploding' near the antenna (black area), so I ordered a tool to open and the replacement part (PDAparts?). Is this fairly easy to do?
I saw one take apart that opened the antenna near the dock connector first, whereas PDA parts starts between the case and the antenna; which is correct?
Are there any gotchas, etc.?
(I know about the warranty, yada yada.)
Thanks.

I'm not sure I'd attempt it.
Do you have a local Apple store? They might be able to help you put humpty dumpty back together.

Dunno about back together; I can't even get it apart (the antenna won't budge with the case tool).
If I ask them to do it; they'll probably quote me $250. I think. I dunno; maybe I'll just live with the splayed out metal case... booo

Since the iPhone hasn't been out a year, I suspect your phone is still under warranty.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd certainly ask ... what could they say? no?

mm. True. I kinda want DIY, but yeah. I just abhor malls, and wanted to avoid that.

Live human interaction isn't that bad. (Except for the germs.)

They claim I dropped it. Something about a dent. No way.
OK, guess I'll try and rip 'er apart.

The answer is no, it's not easy. Prying off the antenna is hard enough; they seem to have designed it so that when you do pry off the metal back, it tends to bend and warp. It looks worse than before.
OK, so if your case is dented or bent, live with it, because it's not worth the price of entry for repair.
