If you are going the bootcamp method and installing XP with the hopes of Vista later on make sure you give it at least a 15 gig partition as that is what Vista needs.

I thought Bootcamp can change partition sizes on the fly.

Perhaps, not sure if it works after the fact.

If you have to buy XP and Vista for no other reason than to use it, I say pick one or the other, but if you've already got a copy of xp and you're planning on getting vista later, go ahead and do that.

You forgot one:

Don't use Bootcamp until the final version is out in Leopard, and then install Windows XP or Vista

the only reason i'd use Windows is for games or porting certain themes made specifically for Windows. Other than that, there's no other reason for me to run Windows.

I've got a copy of XP laying around, so I'll use that now. I'm also a sucker for shiny, new things, so I'll probably get a copy of Vista eventually too.

I'd say don't bother buying both. If you really need/want the upgrades presented in Vista, just wait for it. If not, go ahead and pick up a cheap copy of XP.

Vista will require 15 gigs of space. I'd stick with XP.

Already reported. And yes, a basic Vista install took up about 7 gigs on the 19 gig partition I gave it.

Or... wait and see.

I have no plans of running Bootcamt (XP or Vista), but perhaps I'll give it a try when Leopard and Vista are out...

Who knows.
