Astonishingly and unexpected, Google releases a new version of its Earth software as a beta.

Finally... you can see the peace park in Hiroshima, Japan.

I was having way too much fun with this while at work today.

I don´t know from which "altitude" this one is viewed (since it´s desert it could be nearly anything between 300 m and a couple of km), but i find it contraproductive regarding the original idea of GE.

Played with it a little bit, not bad. They actually have my house now! The south side of my small Iowa town got updated this summer it looks like. Still can't find my car though, I was probably at work, but that's not updated, it's still blurry.

Why would that be? It's actually there.

Thanks for your reply. I actually thought "empty" places like e. g. deserts would be abused as virtual add pillars.

It's really weird which parts of Japan have hi-res photos available. I'm going to be a CIR in a tiny town of 12,000 on a peninsula off of Ehime, and my town has good pictures, but the biggest city in Ehime, Matsuyama, doesn't.

Just kind of puzzling.
