I went diving in this past weekend and thought I'd share my fun filled photos with you. Taken with my IXUS 800IS at Kashiwajima, Kochi, Japan. Yes, I did crop and color adjust.

Fire Darts

Goby and Shrimp

Lion Fish and Octopus

Ribbon Eel

One Super small shrimp

And a yellow spotted puffer

I see six here. Good stuff. Did you buy or rent an underwater housing for it?

Interesting pics.

I bet there is nothing in these photographs that cannot be found on a Japanese menu. Raw.

I got all 6 to show up by emptying Safari's cache. Odd.

I bought housing for the camera about a year ago. 12,000¥, around $100. Worth it as I've used it now 6 times for diving. I use Canon's official housing, which works just fine. I only wish I had the cash to invest in a nice big light to strap on it. The flash works, but not all that great. Especially this past weekend. A typhoon was swinging by Japan and we had two days of rain storms, which also killed most of the natural light.

You joke, but thats the joke I constantly made with all the Japanese diver (me being the only foreigner around). They gave me shocked looks. It seems that there are some things they don't eat (surprise to me).

Yeah but I heard the Japanese are eating raw chicken now. For real. They treat it with a chemical to kill the salmonella and what have you. It's a big hit.

There are certain things I refuse to eat here. Raw chicken or raw eggs are on that list (along with whales!). Raw house though isn't so bad. But to be honest, I've only ever seen people eat raw chicken once or twice in the past two years.

You mean raw horse right? Raw house sounds way too crunchy!

House, horse, whatever.

I too like the little shrimp. I think I may try and enter him into a photo contest. I'm still surprised he turned out. Macro auto focus is a tough one to get right.

You sneeze at such distictions, while I'm a stickler for verbal accuracy.

i made this overwhelming full color picture with a new Olympus 770SW camera, it's supposed to be shock-and waterproof. I took it in a Sri Lankan river with macro.

I hope you like it because i want to make it my career, taking underwater photo's like this gives me so much joy.

thank you fish for making my dream come true !!

Wow. How deep is your camera rated to go? I'm always leery of any product thats says its "water proof." I'm still leery of using my camera in its underwater case. I'm just waiting for the day I freak out as I watch water rush into my camera case 30 meters down. The humanity.

its waterproof to 10 meters. survives 100kg weight on top of it.

it has a manometer and it's quite reliable with both depths and heights.

i like to throw the camera into the water like a skimming stone. i put it on timer so when i dive after it it makes a picture of me

olympus also has a 5meter version that costs half (mine was 399 euro)

I`m takingg a trip there next month, in about 2 weeks actually, for 4 days of diving in the Kerama Islands in Okinawa. I wanted to go to the southern Island of Iriomote, which has a lot to do besides diving, but it would have required a second small plane ride. And around 40,000 yen. Money I don`t have.

Eh, no doubt I`ll have fun no matter where I go diving.

I`ll post some more pictures (and video) tonight, I`m at work now.

I noticed that you just posted on ten threads and not a one made a lick of sense. Why should I be surprised that this one is no different?

That's like a dream trip. My gf has dived off the Kerama Islands - she swears it's the most beautiful place to dive.
Good for you! I want to see those pics.

Thats good to know. I was slightly worried about my diving choice. Fun times are soon to be had! That and fun filled pictures and video. I should invest in more SD cards.
