Probably easier to get a list once people have access to the software ;-)

Adobe Creative Suite 3 won't operate properly until updates are released.

Umm, thanks. It's true that we'll get that info when people install 10.5 and find something is not compatible, but it would be better to know when a key piece of software isn't compatible before an upgrade is made, as I don't think there's a graceful way to downgrade. Further, betas have been out for a long time, and developers and other users have access to them. Most likely any software that doesn't work in those betas won't work in the shipping version. With 10.4, there were reports prior to ship.

At any rate, I guess we can start this as the list.

I posted a message in another thread about this topic (over on the OS board).
Here's what I'm aware of:

•Firefox - requires 2.0.0.8 update to run under Leopard
•Apple Remote Desktop - requires version 3.2 update recently released

I think this is a bit premature. I understand your point, kinda. But how do we know these apps won't work in the retail version as none of us have access to that yet? :/

Anyway, I know Max doesn't work.

Mostly, I expect that these are comments from the developers. If Adobe says there will be some compatibility problems, I'm sure there will be. That said, I wouldn't want to bet my life that what gets posted here is 100% accurate. However, if there's something you rely on, it would be nice to know that it probably won't work before upgrading. I also expect that this list will continue through the rollout and beyond. If something gets updated, it drops from the list.

According to Macintouch.com's FAQ on Leopard:

Q: Does Photoshop require an update to run on Leopard?
A: No. Adobe Photoshop CS3 works fine in our testing (as does Photoshop CS and CS2).

Also

Mac OS X Leopard and FileMaker products

Looks like FileMaker needs an update.

Does anyone know any more about the Filemaker incompatibility? I have 8.5 and I am reluctant to upgrade to version 9 unless there is a major problem with it. Obviously I would also have to wait for the update to 9 but their press release suggests no-one uses anything older than v 9.0 on 10.5.

Is this scare-mongering to push more of us to upgrade or am I just cynical?

I'm not a FileMaker user, so I didn't pay much attention, but I do believe FileMaker, Inc is advising users not to upgrade to 10.5 for the time being.

I'm way back on FMP 6 and there are no issues.

Unfortunately Photoshop Elements 2 is incompatible on both PowerPC and Intel. Maybe I was the last one still using it, but I was quite content with it. I guess I have to keep a Tiger partition just for that.

Mail.appetizer does not work.
Mail says that it disabled the bundle and you should contact the developer for an updated version.

Some third party applications do not 'play nice' with Spaces.

* Open an application window, say Safari, in Space 1.
* Go to a different Space
* Click Safari in your Dock. You'll be taken back to Space 1 where the Safari window is.
This works for all apps. If an app window is open in a Space, go to said Space when you click on the Dock icon.

* Quit Safari and go to Space 2
* Open Safari in Space 2
* Close the Safari window in Space 2
* Go to Space 1
* Click the Safari icon in Dock
* A Safari window will open in Space 1
This makes sense to me. If there are no windows for a certain application open, then create one in the Space you're viewing.

* Open some third party app in Space 1. I tested this with NewsFire and Transmission
* Close the window in Space 1 but don't quit the app
* Go to a different Space and click the icon in the Dock
* Spaces goes back to the Space that you initially opened the application in and opens a new window in that Space.

This is where third party applications need to fix their apps. I don't think that it should matter which Space an app was initially opened in, just if there is an open window or not.

Yeah... PE 2 ran fine on my Intel Mac under 10.4x, but a no-go in 10.5. I am not an artist, but used the program a couple of times a week. Ever my Lide30 scanner still ran within in. Jezus, back to Tiger I suppose...

I don't know what problems other people are running into, but all these programs work fine on both iMac and MacBook under Leopard:

FileMaker 8.5
Photoshop CS3 (8.0)
Illustrator CS3
InDesign CS3

I've had some trouble with the Harmony Remote Software. It no longer seemed to want to talk to the remote. I haven't tried again in GM, I just used my Harmony with my Cube.

Sorry but FileMaker 8.5 does not work properly. I don't know whether it is just the advanced version but it basically crashes on attempting to open almost all of my FMP files. Sounds like I have no choice but to pay up for version 9 and wait for their update. I wish I had saved my money and never bought 8.5. Should have waited for v 9.

Spaces sees a Dual monitor set up as a single space on my Powerbook. Don't actually know how CS3 works since I haven't launched inDesign yet but I guess it will be ok.

Hey everyone, I've been having trouble installing CS3 Web Premium. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I've been getting an error that reads "System Requirements Error - This software cannot be installed because the file system of the OS volume is not supported".

Is there something I need to download for this to all even out?

Cool, thanks. I have the Leopard install disc right here. I was holding off partly because of the possible incompatibilities but also because I'm working this morning and I cannot afford not to lose my VPN connection or have an issue with my VPN connection.
