Hi,

Whenever I restart my computer, I get a user-level process called MassStorage running. It takes up about half my CPU, and ends up not responding, so I have to force quit it.

Any idea what this process is? Thanks in advance.

Do you have any startup programs, kernel extensions, or any other third party software which spawns this? Have you tried starting up while holding down your shift key?

If you open Activity Monitor, select the process, and click "Inspect," you will get a window. In that window, choose the tab "Open Files and Ports." Scroll through the text; it may help you determine where the process comes from or what other app, file, or device it's linked to.
