strange luck had a good premise.

I did enjoy Keen Eddie, but I think it was too British for the U.S.

Of course I'm almost positive it was probably too American for Britain.

That's my gripe. They could have taken another season to wrap things up properly, instead of rushing the finish like they did.

I haven't had the chance (or made the time) to watch the current BSG. To be honest, I'm still having trouble getting past the original and thus getting into a frame of mind to take the new series seriously. I watched the pilot for the original in August, 1978 in a theater in Toronto; I was VERY excited about the series, and watched the whole thing, along with The "1980" version. But I still think of Dirk Bogard and Lorne Green when I hear "Battlestar Galactica."

They were cancelled because some PHB (pointy haired boss) decided that you don't need character development. Audiences are only interested in going straight into the action and commedy. So they aired the shows out of order and people didn't know what the hell was going on.

Can you imagine if they aired the 5th episode of Battlestar first, the last episode 2nd (with the cliff-hanger!), and the pilot episode 3rd (with the cliff-hanger)? Yeah, stupid. That's what happened to Firefly, Brisco, and Odyssey 5.

Those three are PHENOMINAL shows. Firefly even got a movie made out of it by petitions from the fans! (...and you thought petitions didn't work!) That movie, by the way, was Serenity. It's an awesome movie. Unfortunately it's a little rough as they had to take 6 years worth of a television show and condense it into 2 hours. The story was a little weak cuz of the condensing of the timeline, but the writing, the acting, the characters, everything about it is BRILLIANT!

If you get the chance, you really, really, really, really, really, absolutely, positively, need to rent the Firefly series on DVD.

Odyssey 5 and Brisco County, Jr. aren't on DVD, so you'll have to grab torrents.

Seriously, people should watch the first season of some of their favorite old shows sometime -- they're not always as well polished and tight as you remember. Seinfeld is a perfect example.

(Fun Fact: Boomer from the new BSG had a recurring role on that show.)

Most all of the shows I miss have already been covered here. I do get a kick out of NBC using the Brisco County Jr themesong during their promos for the Olympics.

The show does have a devoted following that insist it's the best TV ever and lately I've heard some shows are more self-contained.

However, to do the show justice, it is essential to watch the mini-series first. Otherwise, if you have the season DVDs and can watch the episodes without a week's break in between, you'll start to gain some sense of what's going on. Unless you like mysteries ...

It's kind of like starting the Firefly experience with the episode, "Trash".

all the sci-fi fox has ever had, action, firefly(for double effect cause it was so damn good), futurama, action, angel, buffy, family guy, the 4400, star trek ds9, bsg and south park. Oh and I added some shows that aren't cancelled but I love them anyway.

Arrested Development most definitely.
And what has happened to Love Monkey, the new show on CBS starring Tom Cavanaugh, the guy from Ed on NBC a few years back?

It's only had three shows aired and already CBS has pulled it from the lineup... it was a pretty good first three episodes!

I'll have to agree here. Seinfeld's final episode did what it had to do. No, it wasn't a fantastic finale, but can anyone think of a better way to have ended it?

BSG is one of the more enjoyable shows on TV at the moment. I agree, though, don't miss the mini-series; I'm sure some people have accidentally started with season 1.

It's kind of like starting the Firefly experience with the episode, "Trash".
Or "The Train Job"

Oh wait. That's exactly what FOX did.

Blame the network, not the show.

FOX started "Firefly" with episode 2, while the two-hour pilot (which set the stage and introduced all the characters) didn't air until the end of the season, at which point its presence was completely superfluous and quite unnecessary.

They aired episodes as followed:
The order was 2–3, 6–8, 4–5, 9–10, 14, 1; with 11–13 unaired in the USA

This really killed it.

I HATE YOU FOX! I HATE YOU!!!

I can't remember the name of any of the episodes, but we couldn't stop laughing at the one where Kaylee got that huge Southern Bell froofroo dress. The look on her face was priceless.

Man I miss that show.

Jayne
The man they call Jayne
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne

Now Jayne saw the Mudders' backs breaking
He saw the Mudders lament
And he saw the magistrate taking
Every dollar and leaving five cents
So he said, "You can't do that to my people"
He said "You can't crush 'em under your heel"
Jayne strapped on his hat
And in five seconds flat
Stole everything Boss Higgins had to steal

He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne

Now here is what separates heroes
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne
He turned 'round his plane
And let that money hit the sky
He dropped it onto our houses
He dropped it into our yards
And the man call Jayne
He turned 'round his plane
And headed out for the stars

He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!

Fox just didn't "get" Firefly. In spades. They knew that Joss would deliver something people wanted to watch, but they just did not have a "warm fuzzy" about the show because their brass seem to have the intellect of lobotomized chipmunks with no singing talent. Ooops! Did I say that out loud? BAD me!

What's really dumb about how Fox managed the whole thing is how they ignored the fan base Firefly built in a very short time. So who got to release Serenity? NOT 20th Century Fox! Who gets the money from marketing Serenity? NOT 20th Century Fox! Ahhh! Karma is such a wonderful thing!
