I recently dusted off my old Quadra 610 DOS Compatible and finally upgraded to my dream system of 9-10 years ago. The short list: maxed out RAM to 68megs, added a Sonnett Quaddoulber, partitioned a 7200rpm, interal 9 gig hard drive, upgraded to both System 7.5.5 and 8.1.
ok....so, it's not a 733Mhz G4 (my other beast), but she chugs along just fine with iCab and Netscape 4.08's cache on a RAM Disk. Download speeds are even a bit faster than the G4's.
I have Speed Doubler 8 but have been unable to locate the update to version 8.1.2 now that Microsoft has consumed Connectix and all the old links are dead. Without it, I fear OS 8.1 is just a bit too slow.
I located a used copy on Amazon.UK...alas, they won't ship to the states.
Anyone out there have the update, a Disk Copy image of the installer or a tip on where to get this chunk of code out in the world?
Thanks for your time...
