I really don't see why people enjoy this beer so much. It's kinda skunky tasting, over priced, and not good beer.

Beers I'd rather drink

Sweetwater
Yazoo
Sierra Nevada
Belhaven
Boddingtons
Sam Adams (Octoberfest or Winter)
Blue Moon
Guiness
Bass
Red Hook (any kind but the ESB)

Heneiken? Never heard of it.

But I agree, Heineken is dreadful stuff. There is so much good beer out there, I have no idea why people drink this stuff.

Those and the clear Corona bottles - they think they make them stand out from other brands, but it just makes the beer skunky. Light is the enemy.

Do a taste test from one of these

Shiner Bock
Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Guiness
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout or Pure Brewed Lager
Others....

Heineken is not "bad" but only when compared to wimpy American beers like Bud and Miller. A really robust beer that has decent flavor beats the green bottle all the time. But I still like their commercials.

I've never likes much of the beer in the green bottles. Maybe it's just me, maybe the beer sucks.

I prefer Newcastle, then Bass if I were to drink.

I only get it if my only other choices are Bud, Miller or some other weak American beer.

I prefer Blue Moon or Sam Adams over it, if there's nothing else (i.e micro brews or German beer).

I beg to differ.

Beck's (yes, 's is correct) is at least brewed like a real beer, according to he German purification law. It also tastes much better.

Maybe the Beck's you had was old or an export version that's been "adjusted to foreign taste".

The exclusion of the apostrophe is the fault of the coffee I spilled into my keyboard. I also blame it for missing carriage returns.

Anyway, no, it's just a horrible tasting beer, whether or not it's brewed in one way or another is of little concern. You also state it like I've had it once before; unfortunately I've had it on many occasions, including while in Germany.

I'll have to file this under "personal taste", as Beck's is definitely NOT a bad tasting beer in general.

Yeah, it's totally personal taste. I know people that actually drink VB by choice, and I'll never, ever understand that.

That's probably a beer we can all agree is utterly foul.

Yes, Heineken does taste of ass, and I find that to be the case be it from a green bottle or on tap, so I don't think the issue lies in packaging.

If you ever make it to Yorkshire, try Black Sheep Bitter or Riggwelter. The Monty Python Holy ale is a special branding of one of their Ales. But you need to get these on draft. The bottled veriosns are ok, but they don't hold a candle to the real thing.

Heineken and Becks are not beers. They are lager.

I once had a pint (it came in third of a pint glasses) of Roger and Out in Sheffield. When they pull the beer, it comes out slowly. Almost treacle like. When you have consumed a pint - they give you a certificate. This page (Michael Jackson's Beer Hunter - Mine's a pint of Santa Claus) has it at over 16%. I don't think that it was that strong when I had it.

I think Heineken’s drinkable. Sure, it’s not the most exciting of beers, but then it’s a lager, and most of them taste somewhat similar anyway. Refreshing enough when chilled, not as good as something from the Czech republic maybe, but no worse than most lagers brewed in England and better than that bland American and Canadian swill they export to here.

Can’t compare lager to bitters, brown ales and stouts, in my opinion.

If you're at a party or club, Heineken or Corona or Amstel are perhaps the only decent* choices around here. Sure I prefer a New Castle or Bass or Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, but yea. I make do.

*edit: truly decent would be a switch to some good vodka instead. -_-

I guess people refer to it as Hiny, because it tastes like ass. But Heineken Dark is just soooo much worse. I actually spit that crap out when I first had it.

Sorry, but that's wrong - you can't possibly compare these two. Beck's is a traditional Northern German beer. It hasn't been changed for export and is still brewed in Germany according to German laws rather than under license.

No matter if it's brewed with rice or magic fairy dust, European Bud is an apt description- although it could share title with Fosters, at least in the UK. Mass produced swill of limited taste value.

During my time in Florida, just before Gulf War 1, I used to enjoy Miller's Genuine Draft.

Then again I was a dumb 18/19 year old.

I shall buy some Stella - purely to verify what Mastrap says of course.

My latest binge is Franziskaner and Weihenstephan weissbeir. mmm mm good. It's like a vanilla flavored Guinness.

Been there, drank that, still tastes like old feet.

Sam Adams Summer Ale or Boston Lager is my drink of choice right now. Heineken is the trendy beer for clubbing douche-bags who usually drink Bud Lite, so they obviously have no taste buds.

Don't forget popped-collars!

But seriously, next time you are out drinking somewhere just observe the type of dudes that buy Heinekens. Or Heiny Light (yuck!)

I'd rather drink PBRs.

I disagree. It's good for rinsing real beer glasses before you pour the good stuff into 'em. It also clears the palate between rounds, where you've had a bit of a nosh and don't want the aftertaste to influence the taste of the upcoming good beer.

Miller High Life (The Champagne of Beers!) comes in a clear bottle and gets skunky real fast. I cannot drink anything brewed with rice as it give me a nasty headache. I drank one glass of Butt Whipe from a pitcher my cousin bought and it gave me a headache, one friggin glass.

I am partial to the dark beers
Fat Tire ( any of the New Belgium beer/ales)
Sam Adams
Gordon Biersch
Leinenkugel's (they ran a brewpub outside of Chase Field here in Phoenix)
Pete's Wicked Ale.
When I was fishing in Canada I drank some Rickard's Red, that was was good

here is a cool little site on beer, you have to join though. it says it's free.
