What is the likelihood Apple will put better video in the next iMac revision? Something like a mobile X1900, maybe? (wishful thinking perhaps)

I'd love to be able to play a game like WoW on an iMac with reasonably high in-game settings.

For the record, the current iMacs with the 256MB video card option plays WoW perfectly with all the settings turned up. I have a 24" iMac and get roughly 40-50fps in WoW. All settings pumped up. Not sure what you're hearing.

And its safe to bet that the next iMacs will have better video. Along with better processor, better HD, better RAM.

I disagree, the performance just isn't that great in my opinion. Having a "real" game-friendly adapter in the iMac would be an even more convincing selling point I think.

I don't understand. Have you played WoW on a 24" iMac with the 256MB vid card? I don't know what you're expecting, but WoW doesn't get any better than all settings maxed out. And getting 40-50fps is about as good as you're going to get unless you get a tower with amazing specs.

Please elaborate on what your expectations are.

The 7600GT is more than enough horsepower for any game right now, better than the x1900 offered with the current iMac. If your that concerned about gaming, get a PC with a 7800 or 8800..

Well, ::maroma::, I would say the 24" iMac's 7300/7600 offerings are better than the x1600 standard on the 17" and 20"models; so, of course the performance would be a lot better. On my 17" C2D/2 GB/256 MB x1600 iMac, the performance in WoW at native res with the settings reasonably high chokes the machine appreciably.

And sieb: the 17" and 20" iMacs feature an x1600, not a x1900. The mobile x1900 would be a huge jump for the iMac, perhaps the next revision will offer something like it as a choice.
