wanna replace a hdd in macbook, any models i should avoid?

want to put inside a 160gb disk.
i heard that there should be conflicts with 'sudden motion sensor' if i use models that have their own anti-shock systems.
so any particular models?
i'm plannign to go with seagate momentus 5400.2 160gb.

Some Fujitsu drives are too big to fit in a MacBook. You should be Safe with the Seagate Momentus. That is what Apple uses.

Weird. I looked there too. They list the drive but there's no box with price and "add to cart" like with other products. Page on WD site

Get a Seagate if you can. Toshiba would be next best. Avoid Hitachi and Maxtor like the plague.
Seagate drives have a standard five-year warranty - no other consumer-level hard drive (laptop or desktop size) has a warranty that good. They're extremely reliable drives, but it's always good to know you have something to fall back on.
Try Newegg and ZipZoomFly for good prices and shipping rates.

Heh Maxtor is Seagate now. If you go to a store and see new Maxtor's in a red box, they are actually rebadged 7200.9 Seagate drives. I prefer the reliability of WD drives over Seagate but you really cant go wrong with either drives. Hitachi and Toshiba also make very good laptop drives. You will find mostly hitachi and toshiba on OEM laptops.

Well after the acquisition Maxtor warranty was increased to 3 years and for the most part all Seagate is doing is selling their old stock under the maxtor brand now. So if anything you can pretty much get reliable, cheaper seagate drives now just under the maxtor brand.
