Bonus points if you have a custom Finder icon, too.
I just got a new Mac, so I'm working on a new icon set for it, and brain storming for ideas for what my Home icon should be. So far all of mine have been pop-culture references, but I'm curious what you fellow MacNNers use.
Here are mine: (Home, GamerBook, Work, respectively)
...and the Finder: (Same order)

I love custom icons! Must've downloaded most of iconfactory...
+ I made a few from the Honeymooners (old TV show). My old Norton Utilities has a nice Ed Norton icon.

Dammit, I just realized what futile procedure this is thanks to Stacks.
Quickview is nice, but overall I am not impressed by 10.5s new Finder.

This sounds horrid, but I refuse to install Leopard on my main computer solely because of the new dock. Stacks is an abomination from hell.

Making new Finder windows has been a hassle. I can't just click the icon of a frequently used folder in the dock to go to the its window anymore. The new experience has been so disorienting I never remember to do the extra step of finding the "Open in FInder" icon, but instead manually create a new one and navigate from there.

Right click on the icon in the dock, choose "Display As Folder."
I use the default icons, mostly because I'm lazy as hell, and if I'm on the computer it's not to screw around with icons.

I owe you one.
While not a great solution, I could live with Stacks if a quick double-click opened the dock folder in it's Finder window. Twice as great would be if single-click opened the window, and double activated Stacks.
Edit: Oh yes, my first act of customization on the computer was killing the 3D Dock.

My first act of customization was sticking the Dock on the side, and hiding it.
I don't know how you deal with that landmass at the bottom of the screen, 3D or not (could give a rat's ass, but won't).

Same here, I always wonder why people take up precious vertical space by having the dock at the bottom and/or not hiding it.

I always wonder why people waste precious time waiting for the dock to unhide.
On a large resolution, space is not an issue. On my MacBook, I have it set to hide. But this is also party out of disgust for the new system, and the fact that it I won't be using it as a workhorse like my iMac.

I rarely use the dock, I do love Leopard's adjustments to spotlight however, it makes for speedy app launching.

Meh, I have the locations of each app memorized anyways. It's not like I move the mouse left, wait for the dock to pop out (sounded kinda dirty), and then search for the app. I usually get it spot-on or within 1 icon to the app, sometimes even launching it without the dock being fully...ahem, erect.

That only works so long as no extraneous apps are in your dock. So you either use very few applications regularly, or you have a pretty wide dock (which also sounds dirty).

I have the regulars. But yeah, I don't use my computer for a living so I only have about 10 applications I use on any regular basis.
iTunes, Safari, Photoshop, VLC, Entourage (don't ask me why), EV Nova, Mac the Ripper, Popcorn, Flash, iPhoto.
Any other apps I use are another second away in my applications folder. Even when I was going to school for computer design I had 4 other apps in there but it was still easy enough to hide it. The top of the dock contains the most frequently used applications all the way down to Word at the bottom.

And here's my Home Folder contents...

My dock is iTunes, Mail, Adium, Safari, Gimp, Sys Prefs. Other than that, I use Spotlight to open apps. In Tiger, I used Quicksilver but as fast as the new Spotlight is there's no reason to have another app running. I never understood when people put 300 apps in the dock...that completely defeats the purpose of having them easily accessible.

Too obvious?
I have 18 application icons (including the Finder) on my Dock, hidden, at right. That pretty much covers daily use.

Not really, since that's exactly what was meant by no extraneous apps.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure 18 apps counts as a pretty loaded dock.

Neither do I. I'm a Fruitmenu man, though.

I don't like the new dock either. It's the white line. Is it possible to customize it?

I found some graphics files in it's package contents, so I think the answer is yes. I haven't tried, though. I should probably just make it completely clear for a start.

It's strange. Most new Apple products seem to progress towards a greater economy of design, elegance, simplicity. It's a beautiful thing. Why did they go and jazz up the dock? Just for the hell of it?

In short, anything but American (mainstream) brands.
Prost!
