Its safe to say that this game will be setting new standards for FPS. From the awesome looking fire-reflection-water in the intro to those creepy 50's styled movies that you see throughout the game...this game is unlike any other.

Side thing that might even deserve it's own thread: The new Katamari Damacy demo is also up on the marketplace. I know how I'm spending my evening.

The game is just dripping with atmosphere and the graphics and sound is absolutely top notch! Apparently some Toys R Us stores have already started selling it early. Needless to say I am will be going to mine tomorrow with fingers crossed.

This demo rocks, been playing around with the environment for the last two hour or so. GeOW or Resistance looks really plain after playing Bioshock

This game is getting high 9s and perfect 10s from every review.
Sounds like it is going to be something very special. The kind of game we are still mentioning 10 years from now.

Great demo, shaping up to be an amazing game.. only problem for me, is there a linear plot? The demo suggests so, but some developer blogging i've read suggests more of an open-world style game. Some people love that, but it's not my thing at all.. based on the demo, though, I want it!!! Another AAA title for 360 this year...

I played through the demo last night and while I enjoyed it, I don't think it is *amazing*.
If I get time I may get the whole thing and play through it. I fear that I'll get bored of it if it is just more and more of the same thing.

No need to be depressed, as I have a PC and an XBox controller. It will ship for Windows, and on top of that... I will not have to pay $59.99 You may now enjoy your demo.

The demo was more run&gun than I expected...but even on an SD TV the visuals were quite pleasant, to say the least.
I really hope the game has far more "myst" and less shoot em up.

BioShock (xbox360: 2007): Reviews
I was planning on a PS3 next month but this game might swing it towards the 360.

i usually wait for the gamespot and ign review to make my final decision but i think with the group of perfect 10s and 9.7 from IGN this is a no brainer decision. Books for the fall semester or some Bioschock? (looks like one class is going bookless)

Its ok, I am planning to buy Bioshock on our PC anyways...I dont my 4th 360 to die from "updates"
As far as the game goes, it seems like PC version >> 360 version so far.

I am waiting for Gamespot's reviews, they dont give out too many 9.7's or 10.0's.

my biggest struggle at the moment is not getting too excited lol... with an average of 99 on metacritic i'm just about to explode from gamer's anticipation. don't want to get my expectations too high, I'd rather go in expecting 'good' and being blown away (i'm in Australia, release date 24th, Collector's Edition on pre-order)

Is the Collectors Edition you've ordered the game in a tin box or the game with Making Of DVD, Soundtrack CD and Big Daddy figurine. These are only being sold in the UK by GAME for £50.
I've read about, looked at pictures and watched videos of this game, and it looks really great, and looks a really interesting game too.
Personally I'm not much good at FPS type games, so I'm wondering whether its still a good game for me to get, or if it would be wasted on my general crappiness at FPS, lol.
|

Yep that's the one It's available from plenty of retailers in aus, but thanks for posting a picture, it's the first decent one i've seen!
The game has an easy setting if you're worried about difficulty.. If you haven't played many FPSs on consoles, put some time in on BioShock and once you get used to the controls, all other console FPSs will be much easier (most use the generic left stick for strafe/forward/back, right stick for aim, as I'm sure you know)

Close to 20 hours, but I did lot of "exploring"...skipped out on some of the side quests (on medium, planning to play the game through on easy, but this time being "good"). If you follow the arrow thingie and get the main-quests done, I dont think it will take you that long.
One rant though, the game gets really tough on the medium setting (weapons become useless unless you upgrade), really makes you rely on plasmids a lot.

I have completed it on Medium on the 360 and I must say it is an absolutely fantastic game! It took me about 15 hours to complete it with exploring. Definitely worth the $60 though, without a doubt!

I'm 2 levels past that one. The next one is AMAZING. The after that isn't as cool. (so far)
So far I am loving this game. It really is quite a work of art.
I'm not sure if it's worthy of all the perfect 10s it has been getting, but it is one of the best games I've playing in a long time.

I'm just at Neptunes bounty, killed my first Big Daddy and now I'm wandering around trying to get enough ammo to fight the next one.
I'm gonna save all the little girls...figured I was killing everything else so why not.
I'm running into the problem of only having 2 slots for plasmids and the like....since I save the little girls I didn't get as much adam. Oh well.
BTW I am playing it on hard the first run through, and it's not really that hard (still challenging) I suggest hard if you've played FPS before, anything less than that would be to easy IMO.

It's a great game. I don't know if it deserves 10s or not, but I can't really think of much of anything to fault it for, so I guess if any game deserves a perfect score, this one does. I love the atmosphere, and there's a lot of depth thanks to the plasmids and whatnot. Thankfully, the US version is region free, so I can play it on my Japanese Xbox 360. I like it WAY better than Gears of War (which, while good, wasn't as good as a lot of people made it out to be IMHO).

completed it.
Pretty good, not a 10/10 - but damn close. One of the best games I've played for a long time - miles better than Gears of War.
This is very nearly on par with Resident Evil 4...
my thoughts:
Very easy. Played it on Medium, and didnt get stuck once. The only issue was the lack of ammo - but meh, even thats easily 'farmable'
I totally didn't expect all the other stuff after Alex Ryan dies. I thought that was the end! The whole "run here, then here, then there" was tedious - gathering the potions, the suit etc...
Also disappointed that it wasn't cooler being Big Daddy, hoped you'd become far more powerful.
Speaking of Big Daddys, they're a bit easy once you have a few of the end weapons - namely the crossbow... All the other bad guys scaled well, but Big Daddys stayed the same throughout.
I got the "bad" ending - pretty cool, definitely going to replay it for the good ending.

One problem that I noticed on the PC version, but did not see in the 360 demo. Its when the enemies die in a stair or in an uneven surface, it seems like part of their body is still moving/shaking (it could be their hands, heads, legs...etc); did any of you 360 folks notice anything like that? Wondering if its a game-bug or my PC is asking for a upgrade.
