I mean, is she a "she" or a she pretending to be a "he?" Is she/he suffering from sex change or what?
What IS her appeal? Do any of you find her "sexy" or "funny" or what?
I look at her/him and I don't find anything appealing about that person in the least...
???
Opinions?

She was very funny and fresh during the 80's. As of late, she hasn't had anything to offer other then her rather interesting Star Trek appearances.

Scary.

The Color Purple. One of her best works. All of her other films blow

BTW, what made you think that Whoppi is pretending to be a male? Is it because of her tomboyish acting?

I think it's like she has both feets on the ground which is a good thing.

Have you seen her lately?
She's most definitely gender-challenged or she has a Bob Marley fixation. If she didn't speak and you didn't hear her voice you wouldn't know which sex she is.

No I haven't. Just for some reason she always turns up in all kind of strange old movies and stuff on tv so I'll guess I've been stuck with the old picture of here.

I saw the commercial for her new sitcom ("Whoopi" is the name -- how original, right?) and she looks really rough.
Now, don't get me wrong: I'm sure she's very smart and probably a nice person.
But, I'll bet that show fails miserably.

She used to be funny.
You know in that movie... she was a babysitter, and she finally got married with the kid's dad.. That movie was good.

I LOVE Whoopi Goldberg. When you get the awards and accolades she received on her first movie, The Color Purple, you deserve respect and admiration. I hope her show does well, but I'm not feeling the previews. NBC is the wrong network for it. If Julia Louis-Dreyfuss couldn't make it on NBC (after 2 tries), no female can IMHO. Hopefully they will move it to UPN (after NBC cans it), where it will have a better shot.
As to why I like her, she's so funny. Even on the Hollywood Squares (which she owns), she was hillarious. I don't even like game shows, but I'd watch just to hear her wise cracks.
I have to agree, after the Oscar, her movies went down. I think that's because she was no longer interested in work that interested us; she now looked for roles that interested her--the natural progression of most actresses after winning an Oscar. Meryl Streep, Mira Sorbino, Halle Berry and Marisa Tomei all seem to have followed the same route to some extent.

Is "Bogus" the one you're talking about? If so, I like that movie too.. It's pretty original story.

I'll tell you what's always freaked me out about Whoopie Goldberg. She has no eyebrows!!! She must shave or pluck her eyebrows or something. It just doesn't look "right" for some reason to me.

I believe that was a movie with Ted Danson. He even kissed her. Life after Cheers wasn't so great, I guess.
Whoopie Goldberg is just plain scary. There I said it. Anyone seen "Ghost"? She plays some sort of psychic. There was a scene there that freaked me out....the one where Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore get it on vicariously through Whoopie. Demi and Whoopie in a romantic embrace? Too bad there isn't a "barf" emoticon.

That's what I think, also.
Hey, you're in Guam? I spent a little time there. It's really beautiful there but those brown snakes freaked me out. The diving there (scuba) was awesome though!

Yeah, born and raised! The diving is great here and so are the sunsets. The snakes are overhyped. In my 24 years, I've only encountered 5 brown tree snakes. Not as much a problem than what they're made out to be.
When did you stay here? Are you military or something? Not too many people have been to Guam, much less know where Guam is.

So does my dog but that doesn't mean she can act, either.

I lived in Hawaii for a while as I was working between Los Angeles and Tokyo and Hawaii was in between. I love to dive and went diving all over down there.
The one time I saw one of those snakes was in a cupboard at the rental cottage there on a diving trip. Freaked me out totally.
It's an interesting place you live in!
(Sorry, off topic I know everyone.)

If your dog has more personality than most other dogs you can put it in the movies, sure.
