iTunes 9.0.2 came out Oct. 29.

My 10.6.2 download was closer to 500 MB.

No combo updater yet.

No mention about the disappearing FW drives, but there is mention about that nasty guest account data deletion bug.

The 10.6.2 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including fixes for:

* an issue that might cause your system to logout unexpectedly
* a graphics distortion in Safari Top Sites
* Spotlight search results not showing Exchange contacts
* a problem that prevented authenticating as an administrative user
* issues when using NTFS and WebDAV file servers
* the reliability of menu extras
* an issue with the 4-finger swipe gesture
* an issue that causes Mail to quit unexpectedly when setting up an Exchange server
* Address Book becoming unresponsive when editing
* a problem adding images to contacts in Address Book
* an issue that prevented opening files downloaded from the Internet
* Safari plug-in reliability
* general reliability improvements for iWork, iLife, Aperture, Final Cut Studio, MobileMe, and iDisk
* an issue that caused data to be deleted when using a guest account

For detailed information on this update, please visit this website:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3874.
For information on the security content of this update, please visit:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222.

BTW, 10.6.2 is supposed to provide full OpenCL support for ATI cards.

Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo)

It's been up for a while now, even before you posted, Eug.

Thanks. I went to the download site and they didn't list it.

In fact, I just checked again, and they still don't list it on their OS X downloads page:

Apple - Downloads - Mac OS X - Mac OS X Updates

Strange.

P.S. The combo is 480 MB.

feels snappier. ok, don't kill me. someone had to post it.

I did find one bug. It's a sound glitch. After installing 10.6.2 update, it reset my Output Sound to "internal speakers". I've since changed it back to "line out". When I play iTunes music and other randoms sounds on the computer, it comes from my external speakers (as it should). However (and here's the bug), i just noticed that when i dragged some files to the trash, the sound that the trash can makes when it receivies the files and the emptying of the files are played thru my computer INTERNAL speakers.

Anyone else able to reproduce this?

10.6.2 doesn't fix the disappearing Firewire drive issue.

10.6.2 breaks Atom Hackintosh support.

Did you also change the output setting for Sound Effects? They have an independent setting.

Installing 10.6.2 now. Let’s see how it goes.

edit: 10.6.2 seems to have given my MacBook Pro swine flu. This extremely deadly virus (move over, smallpox) has caused my MBP to spontaneously explode. As an aside, the unibody MacBook Pro seems to suffer from a design flaw due to the glass covering over the screen, which causes painful shards to fly across the room when the computer explodes (as everyone knows computers are wont to do on occasion). Ouch! Hopefully Apple will correct this oversight in a future revision. Anyway, I am off to the hospital — will post further updates when I return. Until then, good night, and happy updating!

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Has anyone noticed problems with Time Machine since updating? My Time Machine drive is a 1TB drive (I have a 750gb 24" iMac); I had close to 100 gigs of free space on it when TM ran last night. It's since had to delete my 3 or 4 oldest backups in order to have room to update. I've only added about 15 gigs of stuff that needed to be backed up, so I'm baffled as to why it's using several hundred gigs all of a sudden.

FYI, the sound settings on my MBP changed after installation of 10.6.2 as well...

When waking from sleep (or even screensaver) OS X wouldn't remember my calibration settings, so I'd have to open System Preferences and select the correct one. Also, when using discrete graphics and plugging in a second monitor, my MBP refused to detect it. So I'd have to put it to sleep to recognize. Major annoyance.

Why do people write posts like this? No one cares that you are downloading it right now. Write something if you find problems after you've downloaded and installed it. I see posts like this all the freakin time.

For long-time members, if we write it, it's meant as tongue-in-cheek because like you we feel it's a pointless statement. It is similar to posting 'snappier' after OS X updates (a throwback to the OS X 10.0 release and whether build 4k78 equaled 10.0 final, and how it was snappier despite being the same build.

Such things are just tongue-in-cheek by long-time members, and usually one or two replies like that are in good fun.

10.6.2 is working fine so far. I didn't really have much problems with 10.6.1 either so there's not much to report.

Odd, now my MacBook Pro takes forever to shut down. Not that it matters much, since I rarely shut anything down.

Which MBP do you have? My 2006, 2.0GHz Core Duo is running very nicely with 10.6.2, including shutdown.

Mine's a unibody 2.66GHz with 4GB.

A minor issue, really. I'm not worried. Otherwise, 10.6.2 has been flawless for me.
