I have 2 machines that I like to keep my iTunes library on -- on one machine I have replaced a lot of tracks with lossless ones (there have been other changes too). There maybe changes on the other machine that should be reflected too.
What is the best way to sync this free or otherwise?
Thanks!

why not keep the library on one and then just use home sharing to play the files on the other computer?

One is a laptop the other is not... they are often not in the same location either.

You can create different iTunes profiles. One for home, another for "on the road" that doesn't include the home sharing...

Off topic a bit:
What is the best way to merge 2 iTunes libraries together?
1 newish Mac, 1 older Mac. Same owner, different user accounts.

It's formally called "using multiple libraries," but it basically means that you have different setups that can look at different subsets of your entire collection.
Open iTunes Help and type in "library." The first hit I get is "Using multiple iTunes libraries."

I have my music stored in two locations and use SuperSync to keep them synced up. It's not the prettiest of applications but it does a good job of keeping all the music files I add to my G5 (main machine) added my mac mini (HTPC). It's not free, but I haven't run into any issues or limitations for it yet.
