I've searched everywhere but can't find exactly what I am trying to do. I've imported a cd and one of the songs is about 11 minutes long. The cd and the imported file both read as a 20 minute song so there is 10 min of silence at the end of the song.

I noticed QT has a trim function but it is greyed out. Is there a way to trim or edit the file with QT (How?) or any software I currently have on my machine. (OSX.2.6) Or must I use 3rd party software.

I don't think there's anything out there that can edit an mp3 file, let alone a mp4 audio file.

I usually convert mp3's to aiff files and then edit. There are a number of 3rd party sharewares that you can use to edit. SoundStudio being one of the best. Look on versiontracker for other editors.

I assume you can convert a mp4 file in the same way. Good luck.

with QuickTime Pro you can select (little arrows under the scrub bar) the area you want to delete and press the delete key (or Edit -> Cut/Clear). Or you can select the area you want to save and use the above mentioned Trim command. Eport to mp4 with passthrough (and I encourage you to pester Apple for not making mp4 support complete enough that you can Save it, among other things)

Thanks, didn't notice those little arrows. Yea, you are right, could be really simple if you were able to just save adjusted file.

Sorry. I guess I posted not really understanding just what you were asking.

Uncle Skeleton to the rescue again.
