Just received the confirmation email. Thanks, Apple, for remembering that today is my birthday!

P.S. I heard that everybody who chose free ground shipping is getting upgraded to free FedEx. Duh! I should have remembered that UPS ground from Taiwan is, like, impossible. But Apple went ahead and charged me the extra $15 bucks for expedited shipping anyway.

P.P.S. I ordered May 5.

Alison,

Happy birthday! Can I ask, do you still live in Paris? If you do then hopefully the UK Apple store will also start shipping these babies.

jambo, I live in Paris, but would never fathom of buying any computer here. For about 40% more than the American price, I'd be stuck with a French OS and even worse a horribly un-ergonomic French keyboard. I plan my bi-yearly trips to the US just when the new portables are announed by Apple. I just sold my Pismo in France (for approx. what I paid for it new in the US) to buy the new iBook. Smart, eh?

Aaah, clever girl. I just lost 500 on my iBook SE which I bought 2 months ago and sold to get a new iBook. Are you planning on going to Apple Expo? in Paris?

I get the feeling a lot of orders are going to be shipped this week.. Maybe some big shipment came through, who knows. My DVD/20gig is supposed to be shipped end of this week as well (ordered the 21st), according to some higher-up guy at Apple.

My fingers are perma-crossed until then..

WhaHoooo!

I got email from Apple saying the iBook has been shipped!

I ordered a 20 gig, CDRW/DVD combo on the 9th of May, so it looks like it will be just within the 3 week range from order to door.

I'll post comments on it when I have it in my hands.

I'm also taking donations to help me pay for this thing.

KC Mac,
You aren't the only one! I ordered my machine on the 1st (Originally a Combo 10 gb; upgraded to 20 gb on 5/10; She assured me that I wouldn't lose my place line!)

And I'm still waiting.... (I'm hoping for an email tomorrow!)
