It'll settle down after awhile.
If anything the mods should crack down on useless and duplicate threads.

The iPod, iPhone forum is being completely taken over by iPhone! Those of us who do not have, nor do not want iPhones are overwhelmed and cannot find info that we want/need about iPod, etc. Can these please be separated out and a separate forum for the iPhone be created?
Thanks for listening!

This happens all of the time, apple releases a new ipod (or in this case iphone) and threads about the new product explode. It will settle down shortly.

No, it doesn't.

I think it does. It's a new product. It's unlike anything has ever released before, and it's capabilities are unlike anything ever released before. This is much different than a new 'consumer mac' or something. Plus it has to deal with all those weird issues, like edge, syncing with your computer, browsing, pictures, wifi, 3g, 2g, whatever. That forum is going to be flooded with all sorts of questions, for a very long time.

As one of the moderators of the iPod/iPhone/Apple TV forum, I must say that we get relatively little traffic except when there's a new product released. This may change in the future, but I don't think any of these products really merits a separate forum right now.

The iPhone is NOT a regular product. There's going to be a lot of iPhone traffic in that forum for some time. However. I don't think it warrants a new forum. There's not enough discussion in there in the first place (as icruise already pointed out).

I disagree. There are way more iPods out there than iPhones, therefore a separate iPod forum would make much more sense.

If Apple is going to expand the iPhone line then I think that in some point in time we'll need a iPhone forum. I suggest renaming the iPod forum the "Apple Consumer Hardware" with 2 sub-forums to it, a iPod forum and a iPhone forum. The main forum will have posts for misc hardware by Apple thats not a Mac, iPod, or iPhone (ie TV, the cinema displays, etc).
If Apple is only going to have 1 iPhone model then I don't see a new forum that necessary.

Why not take the wait and see attitude. If volume of iphone threads continue to be high in the coming months then perhaps it may be warranted. The product is so new, its only natural that people start posting about it
