Everything Ari Fleischer says reminds me of some kind of Hitler stooge. His statements are even more ignorant than Bush's gaffs. He seems to take some extreme fascist view of everything from Venezuelan democracy to his latest statement below:

White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said Tuesday that U.S. officials have "plenty of reason to be concerned" that Cuba has given technology that could be used to develop biological weapons to countries such as Libya and Syria. But when asked whether any "hard evidence" existed, he said, "Nobody in the government said hard evidence. We said we have concerns."

1. Fleischer is a press officer. He doesn't set policy, he just talks to journalists.

2. Wild comparisons to Hitler and Fascism just make you look dumb.

3. Drink less coffee.

He has opinions perhaps worse than those of Bush.

He speaks like a Hitler aide.

I don't drink coffee.

Hm. And here I was, thinking that a press officer's sole job is to present *others'* opinions, not their own.

He has in fact expressed his opinions alongside others many times. Otherwise he would quit his job.

ARI FLEISCHER is the DISSEMBLER GENERAL. He is a propagandist of the highest order. He is slicker than a Crisco slathered hog. He is so damned frictionless I just do not know how the guy even walks. He is walking proof that truth is subjective and he takes that notion to an absolute extreme. He is a foul, foul man and I have no idea how he lives with himself.
All of which means, of course, that he is perfect for the position he has and he is most excellent at it.
I despise the man.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

Hey, any Americans posting on this thread, this is just a reminder that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. Brother Ari is watching.

The only thing that surprises me is that he got the job in the first place. I mean, he slurs his words and has a bizarre habit of ending every sentence on an up-note. It gives him a horribly smug/glib quality, like "It's really annoying to have to do this even though it's my job." But the fact that he parrots and promotes the party line doesn't surprise me at all. The whole White House press thing is like a game in which everyone knows the result but goes on playing anyway. I don't know why anyone bothers.

It has nothing to do with being a Dem, Rep or Indie. Nothing. This is not a political debate. I suppose you could make it one, but well, there it is.
Press secs are, by nature, spin monsters and this guy is no different... other than taking more liberties with the truth than most press secs I have seen. Even more than Clinton's small army of press secs (and if there was ever a president in need of a spin doc...) who were only SLIGHTLY less slime laden than this guy. In fact, I just find him, his spin and his pom poms to be insulting. I'd rather listen to Bush, Dick, Colon and Donny. So I do. If I see Ari's beady little eyes I turn the channel in a heartbeat.
And it's ESpresso. Nit picky, I know, but I take coffee VERY seriously.

Got me max - I don't do espresso so I don't think I've ever noticed the speeling. I spell coffee "F O L G E R S" but I put it in a Starbucks to-go cup.

>waits for cringe<

I have less problem with him than I did McCoury who knew he was telling lies for Clinton and you could see he didn't like it one bit. I felt for the guy.

Besides how hard can the guy's job be - he gets to tell farmers they get a big gift, tell the steel workers they get a big gift, Tell Americans we're cutting nukes by a full third and that the President is signing a big border security bill.

Wonder what they'll do next week.

Well, J, I guess we just need to spend more time prioritizing.
Coffee= important.
Everything else < important.

It's just a matter of getting it all straight, it is!

Many politicians here do this. I assume it's technique and intentional. The trick is, ending your sentences on an up-note makes it really hard to cut speeches for soundbites, since the viewer/listener will always have the impression that the train of thought wasn't complete, and thus feel cheated unless, and that is really what counts, the entire passage is quoted and by that, I mean in its entirety.

Ari's a press secretary, so you know he's a liar.

Ari's a Republican, so you know he's amoral

And Ari works for George W. Bush, so you know he's stupid.

Put them together, and you have a stupid, amoral liar.

you speaking of democratic politicians, or the guy down the street that drinks a beer with you at your local bar?

Either way, such sweeping negative generalizations are the hallmark of republican thought. They're incapable of anything positive, compassionate or noble, or for that matter, any original thoughts whatsoever that isn't spoon fed to them by Rush Limbaugh and that ilk.*

(*now, that was said to make a point.......how did that make you feel? did you think it was a fair characterization to make of all republicans? Was there really a point to say it except to prove what a complete horse's @ss the person is who can't think beyond a stereotype? For the record, I don't believe that statement with an asterisk applies in every case...although I can think of a few exceptions to the rule.)

I edited to add: this also applies to the post before the post I replied to...stereotyping like this is a waste of bandwidth.
