I ordered my 15" PowerBook early Sunday, and just checked my order a minute ago; it's been updated from "Order Received" to "Open", but it says the estimated ship date is on or before 2/5/2004. I even picked the 2-day shipping hoping I'd get it before the weekend...I figured they'd have a warehouse full of 'em to ship (I went with the $2599 standard config), but maybe not. Heh.

This is my first Mac and I'm antsy to get my hands on it! I'm jonesin' for what is, to me, an enigmatic product.

waiting is always the hard part but the joys of opening the box and seeing it all laid out before you yeah it is all worth it in the end.

Yea, the waiting part sucks, but the best part is when you see it coming to your front door and than opening it, than of course, turning it on for the first time.

Congrats and welcome to the light side.

Turning it on for the first time is great.

And now you play the game in which you haunt the Fed Ex site, tracking your package across the seas, across the country until you see the fateful words, "out for delivery..."

Enjoy!

Congrats with your new Mac, and welcome to the light side.

Ah... memories... I still remembered when I first switched and used a Mac for the very first time. Best times indeed...

Oh good Lord...

It's already left Memphis, and I'll bet it'll be in Oklahoma City some time tomorrow...

Anyone know if you can pick up packages from the FedEx warehouse on Saturday?

FedEx just delivered it!

I had to run into the other empty office and fire it up...too bad our wireless access is disabled on the office's DSL router!!!

The PowerBook is beautiful! And freezing cold to the touch! LOL

I didn't see any imperfections, especially none of the infamous "white spots." I did notice the oft-documented "bending upward" of the corners of the LCD when closed, but who cares???

In the few minutes I had to tinker with it, it was virtually silent and Panther looks amazing. The iLife '04 CD/DVD set is in the box, but is it already loaded or do I have to do that myself?

Ahhh...who cares! That's part of the experience. David Pogue's "Missing Manual" will be here shortly, courtesy of Amazon...what a weekend I have ahead of me! But the first thing I'm going to do when I boot it up again is to speed up that freakin' cursor.

My boss just did the same...except he starting bitching about how all his professional-level accounting programs are only written for Windows.

I got mine today as well, it was freezing cold as well. I was like damn. I've been fiddling with it all morning, got the wireless going in my house and school, so far seems to be pretty sweet. I don't have any white spots or uneven illumination yet, everything seems to be perfect so far. I just need to get a little more used to OS X...maybe I'll pick up that Missing Manual book, I read some of it in a bookstore and it was pretty informative.
