Actually, all the friends I watched the game/show with (We're all twenty-somethings) throught it was one of the best 1/2 time shows ever done. We all agreed it was nice seeing someone who wasn't a sell out from the past decade doing something edgy or controversial just to get there name smathered in the media.
Although someone did quip for the selout piece "No, they found a sell out from 40 years ago"
Still it was nice to not hear that cheesy rap/hip hop garbage (I like Rap and hip Hop, just not when it's cheesy and heavely over played)

Ok, agreeed. But there is more to music than (Ex-)Beatles and cheesy rap/hip hop garbage.

I must have seen Paul McCartney do his Beatles/Wings medley about a thousand times.
And every time I'm reminded of how he's my 3rd favorite Beatle, and that I can't remember the last new (non opera) thing he released. I love his first solo album, and the Say Say Say - Michael Jackson era was fine and good, but still. He has loads of talent, but is boring as hell.
Oh yeah there was that Freedom song. Nevermind.

Not me. I fell asleep about a minute into the game. I still don't know who won (I suppose I could go read CNN or something to find out but hey I haven't got that far yet).

See, that's why I didn't turn on the game until the halftime show.
The effect was the same though

I thought it was better then seeing a bunch of teens jumping around on stage while lip-sinking to their one hit.

Paul could have used some girls jumping around on stage, just to have some show

No TV here. Not even a stand-alone unit for watching videos.
I haven't had one of my own for years and I hardly miss it.

Drive My Car
Get Back
Live and Let Die
Hey Jude
It wasn't a medley at all. He played each song in full (well, he didn't play Hey Jude for the full 7+ minutes). I was a bit surprised to hear Drive My Car. Rubber Soul's my favorite Beatles album.
I thought it was great! Paul was in better voice than I expected. I also enjoyed seeing Earth, Wind & Fire before the show. Classic music is never old-fashioned.

That's the funny thing - I don't think the show was tailored for the 20 something crowd. For half-time shows in the past, I always found it funny how they would have this pop artist(s) performing in the middle of the stadium and you have all these football fans who, stereotypically, would be both older and not into pop music watching it live. I think the crowd there could actually enjoy this show. And I don't understand the sell out comment at all. He performed at an event... who did he sell out too and what did he sell? I get if you're a sellout if you rage against corprotism (sp?) and then you become co-opted by it, but I don't see how he's a sellout.

I think the whole lot of people who play or listen to that hip hop crack whore **** could learn a thing or two from Sir Paul. Things like melody, tone and lyrics that make sense. Not some uneducated urban ******** who is "bling bling ching ching mumble whore blunt blah blah blah {insert loud rumbly bass}"

Well, this 27-year-old loved it. Paul McCartney or Justin Timberlake? Sorry, but that's no contest... and I actually like a couple of Justin's songs. Besides, anything is better than Nelly. I'm still cringing over that one.
Looking at some of the comments from the press, I see I wasn't the only one who saw the irony in "Get Back" being played in the "safe" performance. Things sure have changed.

Whatever. There's nothing wrong with hip hop... well, good hip hop (i.e., not Nelly). Here's a tip: it's usually a good idea to present your viewpoint without offending people. Of course, that was probably your intention.
BTW, if you don't live in Clute, TX, you're not in the Mosquito Capital of the World.

Funny you should mention the Hofner.
Hofner's chief product is a violin!
Now I thought that Hofner's interest in electric basses was spawned by the Beatles, but they have been making then since 1962.
I did play bass guitar, and Hofner was one of my favorites. However, bass purists will scoff at that Hofner because its bridge doesn't lend itself to being finger-picked (I used to flat-pick my bass)

I'd rather then NFL drop the whole darn music thing... I watch the SuperBowl to see a football game (ok, and well, the ads are good too) so I'd much rather have a shorter halftime and get back to the game quicker.
