I think we need someone maybe that isn't part of any "crowd" or whatever. A innocent bystander. Someone that doesn't participate in the rah rahing. Maybe not even someone that popular.

It's not a popularity contest is it? Does the IRC channel have any members or ops that don't come here that would be willing to do it?

If they don't come here, they sound like a pretty poor choice.

Well I was referring them being part of MacNN. I am not sure being a active regular here is a good indication of stableness either.

I am just saying anyone that has or does participate in the usual arguments that goes on in here are probably not good choices. That includes me as well in case anyone thinks I am attacking anyone in general.

Like I would never give mod privs to someone that makes a habit of arguing in the PL.

This may not be the best idea. Someone who isn't knowledgeable about past conflicts or a person's habit of doing things would essentially leave them in the dark.

About the only "innocent" bystander left a long time ago. His name was WDlove.

Laminar would make a good mod in the Lounge. He's pretty impartial. Dakar is a bit difficult to read at times, but I think he'd make a good lounge mod as well.

I assume you mean knock down, drag-out, your Democrat mama sews socks that smell arguing?

Cause, really, the whole thing is an argument.

I'd nominate Chuckit, but for some reason, I'd feel bad if the guy got the position and just caught flak all day.
I'm still fine with Oisin being shunned and unappreciated, though.

If I post here at 5:45am in the middle of law school finals does that automatically qualify me as not having a life outside of macnn?

I could see myself in macbook/ibook. I've never had any problems with the mods or the moderation here so I'll trust the hamster's judgment on who takes over.

We have accumulated a fair number of nominations over the last week, and will be considering them in the days ahead. Thanks to everyone who volunteered, nominated, or participated.

I've taken down the Announcement and no further nominations are needed. Looks like SSharon was the last one in the door.

If anyone is interested, this was my first draft of the Announcement. It differed somewhat from the final version. Enjoy.
Moderator Nominations for _______ Forum

We have discovered an urgent need for new schemers to join the Conspiracy. It's just not as much fun to conspire with too few people.

If you think you have what it takes, or can think of some deserving individual who would benefit from time on the inside, suggest a name. We will put our spies to work on the nominees right away.

Technical knowledge is a plus.
A civil post history is a plus.
Patience is a virtue.
Winning lots of fights with other members is a minus.
Losing lots of fights with other members is a minus.
Getting into lots of fights with other members is a minus.
Guud grammr an spelyng is a plus.
Being conservative & liberal is a plus for the Political Lounge.
Tolerance of other views is a plus.
No life in the real world, visit multiple times per day? Excellent, big plus.
Must enjoy working without pay.
Offering generous entrance fees is not required. Definitely not.

After all the nominations & bribes have come in, the staff will discuss and vote on the names. Shortly thereafter, we will announce who the new guys & gals are. Everyone should have enough time to accumulate an adequate collection of eggs & good ripe fruits before then.

After reading that, I'm sure several people "nominated" here won't be getting the job.

Any idea when we’ll be congratulating/pitying our newest overlords?

I was kind of hoping it would be before I leave for Internet-less Sweden for a week for Christmas, ’cause I wanted to be part of the celebrating/taunting. But since I leave in about an hour, that doesn’t seem likely. How will I ever survive this crushing blow?

We're waiting for the Admins to fix a few housekeeping issues. Otherwise, we're good to go. I've no idea how soon they'll be done.

Notification of the winners, and getting confirmation that they'll accept, could drag out a bit too. Especially considering the time of year. You'd better catch your plane, we'll still be here when you get back.

I do have no life, but not quite enough of it to skip my train and Christmas holiday

When I got here, though, I did find out—much to my surprise—that there is an Internet connection here. So now I’ll miss nothing!

That's great! I couldn't imagine not having the intarwebs! They must have built some new tubes there in Sweden.

I never go anywhere the Internet won't. Like, if the largest pornography collection isn't willing to come near, you know you're ****ed up.

(Actually, my dad didn’t think they had Internet, either. They are paying for the connection, but since their phone line was closed [Telia = teh suxx0rz] and they haven’t been able to go online since about that time, he assumed no phone line meant no Internet connection, too. Mac arrives in the house and immediately proves him wrong—hah!)
