Sooo, how much worse is it to just copy the game files over from my old iMac to my new PowerBook than to do a fresh install of the games? Am i going to notice THAT much of a difference?

It depends on what games. There shouldn't be a noticeable difference between installing and copying over games.

I usually install them fresh on the new Mac, along with any patches and updates. Remember to copy any of your save games or preference files across for your games though. Especially if you're half way through playing any of them!
