Hi all,

There have been rumors circulating that Apple plans to give its notebooks, minus the MBA, a complete cosmetic refresh as well as new processors. I'm most concerned with the MacBook Pro, because I am purchasing one this summer I'd love to hear what others have been hearing about this possible update (if anything) and when they think it'll happen (June-August, from what I've heard).

Still trying to imagine what the new MacBook Pro and MacBook will look like- I hear the MacBook is being clad in aluminum, but I have no clear idea about how the MBP will look...

No one will have any idea what they will look like, no one except a few people within Apple.

However you are right to assume there will be updates (of some kind) in June - August time, as this is when the Centrino 2/ Montevina will be released by Intel, and of course Apple has to keep fairly up-to-date.

I guess they will either stay the same size or get a bit thinner, the iSight might get a better camera, the keyboard may become more like the MB (in the MBP).

I hope the HD is easier to replace in the MBP. And the new Centrino 2 / Montevina platform will up the maximum amount of RAM.

I would love a slightly higher res on the MBP 15" screen too. 1680*1050 or something.
The CPU's of Montevina seem to go up to around 2.8/3Ghz.
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

I would love to see all of what you mentioned on the updated MacBook Pro, especially the MacBook keyboard. I have had a lot of problems with keyboards on the aluminum PowerBook, which I believe is the same one that is on the MacBook Pro, especially with the spacebar. It seems very spongey and unresponsive after some time of use.

A new iSight camera would be very welcome as well, and, obviously, so would the boost in speed that would come with the Montevina chipset. I would die for a 2.8Ghz processor in a portable- looks like that dream may become a reality in time for my August MacBook Pro purchase... Although I still am clamoring for a Blu-ray disc solution. Not that that would make or break the MBP for me, but it would definitely be a nice addition.
