Because I'd like to say yes, I'm tired of them, but the reasons for them are varied. Some people have legitimate concerns/gripes and aren't just slamming americans, but the sheer number of the threads is too much.

I though about it this weekend and realized that some people just want to vent against the US, but they really don't want to start a fight, they simply don't want us to defend ourselves or respond.
Sort of like it isn't that they just want to kick a dog when its down, they want it muzzled, too.

I don't mind 'em. Most of the irritating criticism (inciteful rather than insightful, as someone else has posted) is easily deflated.

I like criticism of the U.S. We're a big country. We can take it, even if Dubya is a little cranky about it.

Quite rightly, anyone posting crap like that gets heavily flamed, but it would be wrong to say they can't post it. There's different degrees here as well. I can say that I think I dont agree entirely with the way Bush has reacted to 9/11 and that a lot of Americans (particularly the media) are behaving in a parochial, overly-patriotic manner, but I dont consider that to be an anti-American statement.

Rule of thumb.....

As long as people are talking *about* Americans they are happy.

With Americans it is like Hollywood does not matter good or bad news they just need to be mentioned

Oh and they get wound up easily in this forum anyway

hmmm, don't wanna vote, but still would like to know the result, anyone?

C'mon; every sane macnn-er can tell the difference between bashers and constructive debaters. BTW, 'your' strange habits should be questioned from time to time, don't you agree?
For the sake of better mutual understanding: let's see more of these threads!!!

cheerz,

C'mon Mlum, you're a clever, well-read guy, how about a little Guardian-style vitrol laced with some Eddie Izzard humor? Isn't the ole McDonalization slam a bit stale itself?

BTW, Mlum, I've never had a stale Big Mac (but I'm not sure I've ever had a Big Mac). Nevertheless I don't think those buns sit around very long. Instead, I think it would be more accurate to say, "bland like a bland Big Mac", or, better, "Americans are salty-sweet-overwrought like those Big Mac's they so love to eat."

You like my semantic-nazi response to your joke about my semantic-nazi post? I must be bored....

Oh, and just because "life as we know it" depends on water doesn't mean there aren't martians doing the silicon-based, sentient gas-cloud equivalent of "swimming" in the substance-medium of their choice.

Your anti-unknown and pro-carbon-based-lifeform agenda is becoming more and more clear!!
