That's pretty cool actually. I like how it gives the bubble and zooms in on your destination or your beginning address. I live right by campus, so not very interesting.

I hope you don't drive to work then.
Not sure about distance but 5 stops on the subway, about 20 minutes away (same if it's raining and I'm running late and I have to take a taxi).

About 18 miles to my office. But I currently work on site at the client, which only 7 miles - but more importantly, no need to get onto the beltway.

Work? What is this "work" you speak of?
Before I retired, I drove about 10-13 miles one way every day. It depended on which building they had me at.
My longest commute was from South Austin to North Austin (without using I-35) which was about 30 miles each way.
My shortest commute? When I was assigned to Honduras the latrine was about 50 feet farther away than my office! I walked about 150 feet to get to work; the chow hall was much farther away, and in the opposite direction. Life was hard then...

11 miles/15 min according to Google. Reality is closer to 20 min in the morning and 40 in the evening.

Well, in Berlin, no prob. I'd be crazy using the car in rushhour traffic.
In Newport News, my only other options are walking or riding a bike.
Both not really an option. I just can't show up at work in a suit, all wet and sweaty...

1.9 miles and yes I drive. There is no such thing as public transportation in this area. It's dark when I go into work and I'm not about to walk and ride a bike in the dark. After work I usually don't go home, it's not unusual for the trip home to be 10-15 miles.

Currently - 0 (semi-retired, work-at-home)
Previous job - 24.8 miles each way
Job before that - 1.7 miles each way
Job before that - 1.4 miles each way
Since the commute was getting longer and longer, I gave up working.

2.6 mi / 4 minutes. (thats with no traffic at all... or bobbing and weaving through traffic like I do when i'm running late for school. )
With normal traffic its more like 10 minutes. Still pretty close though.
EDIT: I changed the pic a little bit. I realized the route Google chose is not the route I use. I take the short-cut highlighted in red. Its the same distance, but the road in red is always empty so you can go about 50 (except in that major turn... I learned that the hard way) and it saves a lot of time. The roads google chose are all 25 zones.

9+ Miles (address altered to maintain some personal info)
And it NEVER takes 15 minutes. At BEST, it's 30 minutes, during peak traffic, try an hour.

5 miles. It takes me between 15 and 20 minutes to ride my bicycle. If my wife drives me it takes 10 - 12 minutes. Add to that getting the kids in the car, its usually quicker just to ride.

For my job, it's exactly (from my home to the parking lot at work) a 40 mile drive each way. I don't need google maps to tell me that, I've been doing it for 5 years. For my business, it's a matter of walking down two flights of stairs. It's the preferable commute.
