Jiehaa, now the only universal I need are Word and Excell, unless Apple brings out a better version of Pages and finally brings out the rumoured 'Numbers'

But Firefox as a binary is truly great news :-)
After 18 years of MS-DOS and Windows working very happy on Mac, now on a 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz - 2Gb memory - 200 Gb HD with a 20 and 23" screen. I've been waiting for the iPhone for quite a while, let's role it out in Europe. Just one wish left for now: a light mac (2-3 pounds) with 8 hours of working time. They can do it... :-)

Faster on Intel or PPC?

For me it seems a bit faster on G4-800 but that wouldn't take much because Firefox was pretty slow.

Firefox went from 24 MB to 46 MB, bad news for those of us without intel chips...wish there were some way to strip out the extra code, something like DeLocalizer (deUB?)

Fast indeed!! On my MBP it renders "most" pages in under a second. Very fast!

From: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mac:Intel

"We produce universal binaries by building PowerPC bits using gcc 3.3 and the 10.2.8 SDK, and merging them with Intel bits generated with gcc 4.0 and the 10.4u SDK. The differences in compilers and SDKs accounts for the need to run on PowerPC under versions of Mac OS X earlier than 10.3.9. The universal merge is handled by a script that runs “lipo” on executable code."

Yup I understand this completly.

Is the new Firefox build a Carbon application or a Cocoa application?

I ask because Firefox is a Carbon App. Carbon apps can't access Services which requires a Cocoa application.

I have Safari and DevonThink Pro. Sometimes I'll see an article that I want to archive a web page to DevonThink. I can access my Services menu in Safari but I can't see it in Firefox.

I was wondering when/if Firefox will be a Cocoa app?

Firefox is not a Cocoa app and probably never will be.
