Hello. I'm new to the forum and i'm in need of some help .

I am wanting to view a video available on the site link below. I cannot seem to get it. I've uploaded VIVA software and REAL and i've tried watching the videos with WMP and Quiqktime. No joy!

Can someone have a look and revert with some ideas??

Unfortunately i think the owner of the site has given up on it and so doesnt even reply to my emails!!!

It appears as if the VivoActive player is mainly used to watch porn...

Anyway, a player exists in the form of a Mac OS Classic browser plug-in. I installed it and opened the .viv file in my browser and it worked, so try that. The installer seemed a bit stupid as it didn't install directly into the plug-ins folder, but rather on the root level of the disk, so you might have to move the files yourself.

Jacke. Due to my inexperience i have no idea where to move the files to. i think that's where the problem is coz i've downloaded the viva files before and got nothing. if you can assist me i would be most grateful.

Uncle skeleton. thanks for your help but its principally the sound i need as this is for a research project. but any feedback is always good.

while we're here. is there any way to record image and sound (i use wiretap already for audio recording. now i need a video recording program...preferably free!!!)

You need to have Classic installed along with a Classic browser. If you have Classic installed you should have a folder named "Applications (Mac OS 9)", in that folder you should have one or more web-browser folders. If you don't, here's IE 5 for Mac OS Classic, and here's Netscape Communicator 4.8. In that browser folder is a folder called "Plug-ins", that's where you should put the files installed ("Vivo Plugin" & "Vivo.class").

I can only think of one screen capture app. that captures movies, and that would be Snapz Pro. It's shareware, so you can try it and see if it's worth the money.

Jacke. No joy. I've done what you said, in Classic. I then access the page but i'm told that i need tyo download the plugin again...when its already there...

I dont get it.

Did you actually manage to see the movies?

I also tried to upload Mplayer but every time i link to the page to play the movie, MPlayer blocks...!!

Maybe i should tell you taht i'm on an Ibook G3 running the Mac osx1035, i dont know if it makes a difference.

I did see the movies, but I didn't view them from the site itself. I downloaded the files to my hard drive first and then opened them in the browser.

I looked in the html source of the page and found the location of the videos. Hold 'Option' (aka 'Alt') while pressing these links and they should download to your computer: Video 1, Video 2.

Unless you have changed your browser settings, the files should be downloaded to your desktop. Then you open your Classic browser and type in the address field: "file://localhost/<Your HD>/Users/<Your username>/Desktop/", where <Your HD> is the name of your hard drive and <Your username> is your username in Mac OS X (if that address doesn't work, just type "file:///" and navigate to your Home/Desktop folder). A list of all the files on your desktop should now appear. Find the files net1.viv and net2.viv and make sure that it says something like video/viva in one of the columns. Press the file and it should start playing in your browser. If it doesn't you might have to change the browser settings so the Viva plug-in reads the file.
