I want to input and edit video through my iBook (G4 800, 30HD which is almost full, 256MB, OSX 10.3.6) via firewire. Any suggestions on a good combination? Also I have only have one FW port....

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance...

The advantage of firewire is that you can daisy chain most devices - ie most external devices have an extra firewire port so you just plug the second device into the first one. With even firewire 400, the speed is awesome.

I personally would recommend :

The Lacie Porsche DVD+-/RW drive (firewire). Its great value for money.

I personally have a Pioneer 109 16x DVD=-/RW drive (firewire) in a netstar 2 enclosure and its sweet as.

For external firewire hard drives, i dont think you can go past the icecube for value and performance. I am personally going to buy an 80gb one in the future.

Good luck.
