On windows, I just download a few libs and .h files in a package and include them in the project and I'm off.

Here on my Macbook, I'm apparently in some sort of UNIX world with ./configure commands and stuff, and I don't get it.

I installed some sort of SDL framework at one point, and it totally crapped all over my HD and I had to do "sudo ls -AR" and then compare it with the .bom file of the package to clean it all out.

Could someone point me to exactly what package of SDL I need, and how to install it, in order to compile such things as AdvanceMAME?

My guess is that the package I downloaded was for actually developing SDL itself, and wasn't a universal binary thingy (if source code can be PPC only... ahem).

Thanks!

You should just have to put the SDL framework in /Library/Frameworks and then it should compile (if they projects are already set up to use it).

I'm not sure I want to download and install the SDL framework again, it didn't seem to work the last time. Also, advancemame isn't an xcode project (and the package link says "project builder + xcode").

Can anyone using an intel based Mac confirm that this package works on the latest OS X?

You need to compile SDL yourself, since (last time I checked) the downloadable version is PPC-only. You'll also need to (a) put it in ~/Library/Frameworks (or /Library/Frameworks) or make sure it's copied into the Frameworks directory in your app, and (b) make sure your app is properly linked against it. At least, this is what I had to do to get VisualBoyAdvance working.
