Man,

If it is a day that ends in "Y" MacBook owners get another firmware blast. The latest was specifically in regard to a problem I have had - KPs after waking from sleep. Guess someone at Apple was listening.

I hope these are all cumulative...ie. I hope my heat stays under control AND the sudden quitting stops. But that is naive of me to think, eh???

Hasn't there only been two firmware updates for MacBooks?

This is my 3rd.

1st was for the fan control
2nd was for...not sure exactly
3rd (this one) said it was to combat the shutdown when waking from sleep issue-something I experience.

Seems to me the heat levels have gone BACK up.

Did this one install differently than the last or am I on crack? I don't remember having to hold the power button until it flashed last time.

Nope you are NOT smoking from the crack pipe of technology. The last update (still the second IMHO) was pretty simple. This one threw me a bit, but it "seemed" to work OK.

Maybe they resent this one because the last one did not properly instruct people???

One was an SMC update, and the other an EFI update. Different parts of the firmware being updated, therefore different update procedures.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

There have been 3 total and as the above post says one is for one controller one is for the other.

Ahhh. Thanks for the validation.

I hope the recent updates don't step on each other!
