Y'know, I wish I could get myself a static IP address. If I could do so for not too much money, I'd start my own forum and be gone from here so fast that old posts would probably flood in just to fill the vacuum I'd leave in my wake.

Demonhood, I think I understand your position. That doesn't mean I agree with it, or agree that "shielding" kids from sex is a Good Thing.

Then again, I'm not terribly concerned with kids. This isn't really a child-oriented forum. There's no Sponge Bob Squarepants here, and a good thing too. No Barney, nothing here for kids under around 12 or so. So why bother planning with them in mind? I don't understand, I don't care to understand, and I'm not asking for an explaination.

And I'd be gone if I could find a decent web-board to replace this one. I expect you'd not particularly miss me.

As for Mac-related issues, this isn't where I go. I use NLZero and USENET for those topics, as they've got (1) experienced people, (2) lots of them, more so than here, and (3) a preferable interface. I come here for light entertainment since I mustn't use USENET here and NLZero can't be my only computer-related contact.

As far as I'm concerned, posting pictures of dressed or even somewhat undressed women is a Good Thing. Gay porn, I'd eliminate myself if I was running this place, but then I wouldn't run this place. Its focus is too narrow for me, honestly.

If scantily-clad pictures offend you personally, I can't argue with you, and I'm not trying, honestly.

PS. You can get generic web hosting with CGI access pretty cheap these days, and there's lot of free forum software as well. Go nuts.

maybe you'll notice you have a Private Messages option, if you start your own board, because you obviously haven't cracked on about that feature on this board, otherwise, you'd have PM'd demonhood. right?

fine, you want to whine publicly about a MacNN policy (notice i didn't say a Demonhood policy). but guess what; your "i'm so outta here...once i find a good place to go." argument isn't going to change anyone's mind about things. and it certainly isn't going to change the policy we have in place to make the forums relatively PG-13 (for kids, for people at work, etc..).

there are plenty of other places online where you can post/view whatever you like. go there.

I think DH is doing a fine job. I don't get what everyone's big freaking complaint is about. Have you ever heard of bbq? That place is a little too much more me, so I stay around here. Its all the same people that hang around here anyway.

You'd think MacNN was the only board in cyberspace.

This is like people getting pissed off at WalMart for not carrying Maxim. Why should they? They're not the only source for magazines. Duh. They don't have to carry anything they don't want to.

DH doesn't have to let crap go that he doesn't think should be on here. So start your own board. I don't remember ever noticing you as being particularly contributory.

You clearly don't agree with censorship on a message board because, hey, we're all adults here, right? Yet you support banning gay porn. Sounds like a contradiction to me. What do you really want MacNN to do? Allow posting of all pictures that you like, but not ones that you find distasteful or offensive? Has it not struck you that others may have different tastes?

Easier to keep everyone happy with a blanket ban. Also, I don't want porn flashing up when I'm at work, or maybe using my computer when my parents are visiting etc etc
