Okay I failed to sell the 17-inch PowerBook as one unit. So now I've taken it to the chop shop and am selling it in pieces. Prices are as follows.

17-inch Widescreen LCD $499
SuperDrive $149
Backlit Keyboard $99
Upper Case (including trackpad and power button) $125
Lower Case $99
Battery (holds about 2.5 hours) $59
512MB PC2700 Sodimm (Apple OEM) $49
Airport Extreme Card $49
17-inch PowerBook Restore DVD (includes iLife '04) $29
S-video to Composite Adapter $10
DVI to VGA adapter $10
Original 17-inch PowerBook Box (with foam inserts) $15
Apple original white phone cable—Free with purchase

Pics are here: http://homepage.mac.com/mjrap/PowerB...toAlbum18.html

Please email me at [email protected] for information on any of the other internal parts from the PowerBook.
Thanks.
Mike

What's your price for this "as is" item?

At this moment, I'll offer you $325 and shipping.

Hi,

How's the condition of the battery? How long does it last? If it holds a good charge, I'd like to buy it.
If the dvd drive is in good condition as well as the case parts, and keyboard I would be interested as well.

So let me know what you would be looking for in the case parts + battery + keyboard + drive.

Thanks!

Yeah, I tried a pram reset. But whatever is wrong with it, that wasn't the problem.

KMark:
I'll email you an offer for all the parts you said you were interested in.

I'm not really looking to sell the hard drive. In fact I already purchased a sweet little external enclosure for it for only $39.99 at the local PC Club computer store.

The PC dummy working there didn't think the enclosure could be powered through the Firewire bus. Maybe not on a PC, but it works without any aux power on a firewire mac.

X, thanks for the fair offer, but I'm pretty firm on the price for now.

OK, lets try $800. without the hard drive. Before you took out the hard drive did the hard drive spin at all?

X:
I'm not sure if you've ever owned a 17" PowerBook before, but the computer still made some clicking startup sound (I think it's related to the SuperDrive) when the power button was pushed, but there would be no startup chime. There was still a hum which I guess could have been the hard drive spinning.

Also, I don't think it's charging the battery anymore, since I can't get the battery to show a level through its meter, even though the power adapter shows the computer is charging.

I'm not sure if any of that makes sense, but that's my best stab at describing it.

As far as the offer, like I said I'm pretty firm on being near $1000 for now.

Let me know if and when you get it down to $800. I'll need to know by the end of Saturday or I'm just buying locally a 15" Ti 1G for $800.
