Frankly I think the invite looks a bit lame, perhaps too lame to be real.

Well the new Intel Macs can do realtime H.264 encoding... so a streaming media receiver is possible at the consumer level.
But it's fake.

I think it's going to be Disney-themed iPod skins.

Do I have to point out that the Apple logo is skewed while the text is perfectly straight?

Fake.
The Apple Logo appears to be on whatever that's a pic of, the text is just on the invite.

Anyways, where is this fake Feb. 22 Special Event supposed to take place?
P.S. The draft 802.11n spec has been ratified...

Has anyone gotten this event invite other than that flickr account guy who's other pics are NOTHING BUT FAKES!?
When was the last time Apple showed an unreleased product on the invite?

Apple's going to be supporting 802.11n! And guess what all you MacBook Pro users! You already have it and we're turning it on TODAY!
That'd be cool... actually the fact that 802.11n is just around the corner is frustrating since I'll probably be buying my next apple laptop right before it comes out
That said my guesses for next Apple products introduced, new iBooks, probably the phasing out of the shuffle for a 1 gig nano or something along those lines. They'd better not update the iPod iPod because... I JUST GOT A NEW ONE!

Video Express? Though I bet that thing's a fake (look at the Flickr account), I would like one. How would that work, exactly? Just curious?
Component or S-Video output? A dongle for said plugs?
That would be cool, seeing as I keep missing Lost and am getting tired of downloading/copying-to-PowerBook/hunt-around-for-S-Video-Cable/change-TV-input/play-as-QuickTime with no remote capability. Oh that's a good point. How're you going to pause/play, FF and RW and sh*t, if you're streaming? Ya need a remote.

S-video would be pathetic. Who uses that anymore?

By the way, you know what'd be cool. Is if they freaking dropped the price on the AirPort express base stations, the things are crazy high priced compared to most other wireless networking gear. I mean sure it's some pretty good gear but not that amazing... of course that said I'm really enjoying my current one.
Question though is, will we see the iBook move to Core Solo at the same time or before the Mac mini?

You were asking who uses them, not whether or not it was any good; in answer to your question, a lot of people. Backpedalling with an irrelevant answer isn't going to save you from denial.

This is from the MacNN main page:
" Reiterating a 'buy' on the stock, analyst Shaw Wu of American Technology Research also said the stock has potential upside with a strong Intel transition outlook and improved iTunes/iPod penetration as well as an upcoming Apple media event that will shed some light on future product plan."
Emphasis added by me.

'Fraid I have, dear friend. Apple's desire to impliment "Mac" in all of its products as stated by Steve Jobs indicates that the beloved iBook name is probably a sinking ship. Apple is going to be cranking out the MacBooks...

It's not back-pedalling at all. People still drive around in 30 year old POS cars and have Black and white TV's, doesn't mean they are good.
S-Video is pathetic.

Strange how Apple would announce a new 1 Gig Nano TODAY when they have this "Special Event" for the 22nd.

S-Video is pathetic.
So you're agreeing that lots of people still use S-video then.
Any Video Airport Express would support S-video. It'd also probably support both component and composite too. (S-video with composite in one dongle, and component in a different dongle.)

Why would Apple have a special event to launch a cut down nano?

Rephrase: You're changing the subject.
The question (you asked, I might add) is: who uses S-Video? Your answer: a lot of people.
Your rebuttal: It doesn't mean it's good.
Huh? Yeah, S-Video is not as great as HDMI/DVI, etc., but it's better than coax and composite. So I don't get your point.
Anyway. Let's hope for something interesting, or mind-bending or the like.

Apple rarely uses special events to introduce modified versions of products, they use them for things involving new processors, and new forms. Apple tends to often release new revisions before events so that they can simply give them a passing mention. Lately the layout of these events goes...
Steve takes stage
Steve talks about Apple Stores
Steve talks about Mac success, sometimes mentions recent revs in passing
Steve talks about iPods (this can be interchanged with Macs)
Steve may intro new or updated software, nearly always followed by a demo of new features
Steve at some point mentions something by a third party dev, be it MS, Adobe, Belkin, etc
Steve introduces new Hardware
There's some video at some point that explains the new software or hardware, often with celebrities
Steve of course by now has also mentioned iTunes
Steve seems about to wrap things up,
and one more thing,
Generally new hardware
So probably we'll see at least two new pieces of hardware, and at least one new software title or update.
My guess is that this thing will be front row extreme.

Yes people use S-video, it stinks, Apple needs to break the habit and they already did with the MacBook Pro's.
Why would Apple come out with a new Nano 2 weeks before a supposed press announcement? Answer that.

I just did. Most times Apple only unveils new products at events when they look physically different.

Maybe Apple will break into the Realdoll business, and make them USB compatible. Thus signaling the end of Firewire, and the start of real Apple love.
