Other than my iPods, I see no iPods. Nobody has them. I see CD players and MP3 players, but nobody seems to know what an iPod is until I show them one.
It must be something with the water in Livermore.

I've seen two on my "capus." One, I actually didn't see... I just saw the distintive white earbuds. The other one was at the gym. A friend that I was with had no idea what an iPod was when I made some whimsical remark about that girl's iPod. But he did know the "1,000 songs in your pocket" line...
Then try this one on: one of my flat mates habitually refers to the melon-shaped iMac as "the iPod." I corrected him the first time, but I don't bother anymore. He's just not getting it.
Maybe the dancing guy in the iPod commercial didn't have quite the effect that Apple was hoping it would. People don't seem to be relating the "1,000 songs in your pocket" tag line to the actual device.

I see mine most days, but haven't met anyone with one since Apple released it last year. Everybody likes mine tough. They usually say: I wish I could afford it!

Zero, naught, nada, zilch. We po'folk here on "capus."
I haven't seen a single one and it doesn't really surprise me. To me, that price tag is still too prohibitive.

Outside of stores, the only iPod I've seen since I bought mine in November ... is mine. I think its the only one for miles around.
I like to show mine off, though, and it always gets a ton of attention -- generally bordering on awe!

I *wish* I had one... Off topic, but does anyone know of a car stereo that you can connect an iPod to and export the music?

They laughed at my Mac, it had no CLI. They laughed at Linux, it had no GUI. I installed MacOS X, and shut them up.

Besides mine, I haven't seen any around in Santa Rosa, Ca. My iPod accompanies me everywhere I go; at work, to the gym, in my car, ect. As Montanan mentioned, you get a lot of people coming up to you and commenting on how cool your iPod is. A lot of people I talk to really want one but just can't afford it.

I've *NEVER* seen one... they just aren't around here.
And who wouldn't understand that, with a pricetag of nearly a grand.

Only mine. But I saw a girl on the train yesterday with the ugliest MD player and I had to whip mine out to show her how great it is. My iPod.

But they don't know they have iPods. It's your job to make them aware that they have iPods otherwise they will be walking around for eternity haunting the corridors of Cupertino.

I have never seen an iPod that wasn't mounted to a display case in J&R. (But everytime I go I play Breakout!)

have to give this thread some support.
ipods sell out routinely at the mac retailers i know in tokyo,
and i see them on the train (earbuds, like others said)
or in general cityscapes
at least once a week.
since i've changed to smaller earbuds, i'm not as noticable, but i do give them a big gaijin grin.
it's a tiny community of the rich or the easily separated (from their money).
and i'm happy to be one of them...
i also see my buddy's ipod at least a couple times a week...
wish we could link them...

i see mine everyday,
but have seen at least two or three sets of buds on campus.
at the gym some guy came up to me and had a 5 minute conversatoin about my ipod, he wanted to play with it etc.
i can't believe all the people who carry around diskmans and the like to the gym. i also never saw the point in minidiscs. but hey, that's just me.
i just put the pod in my shorts pocket, it is by far the best music device out there. before the pod i had a rio with 64MB that was great for the gym, 1 hour of music, but had to switch songs, batteries all the time.
thank you apple.

Although I'm waiting for one with a larger hard drive, I drove three hours to see on at the new apple store in Plano, Texas. There are none in this Peyton's Place I call home.

Well let's see...
Looking around here at work...thinking back over the last couple of weeks... adding up all the iPods I've ever seen... the grand total would be...none.

Never seen an iPod anywhere...
More accurately, I've never seen anyone with an Apple product of any description in almost 5 years.
