Apple Technician Training

Hey All,
How much computer repairs/troubleshooting experience is required to complete this training and testing. Basically I have no computer technician training and or experience short of very basic repairs/troubleshooting of my and friends computers (PC's, have been using Macs for a couple of years) I do have an Audio Engineering diploma so have some limited technical experience. I'm looking for a career change (from Teaching) and would like to explore this field alot more.
Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

I would imagine that by asking the people wherever you register about how they can judge the average knowledge going into the classes.

The first tier of AppleCare Technician Training is a self-paced, online course that is designed for those with no computer experience. Each section of the course starts out with basic explanations and works its way up to more advanced disciplines.
It's a great course and relatively inexpenisve. The tests are inexpensive, too, and are all multiple choice questions.
I've taken (and passed!) both the Apple Portable Serivce exam and the Apple OS X Help Desk Specialist exam. They're not super easy, but their fun!

WHere do you purchase the training stuff as well as take the exams? I've been wanting to do this for a while now.

so after you complete the training, can you work for them as a repair technician?

Yes, as well as any Apple Authorized Service Provider. You will need to re-certify once a year, though (by taking another test).

Hey, Thanks alot thats the kind of info I was looking for. 
I've read that some of the URL links in the online course are outdated and don't work, is this true?
Also many have recommended purchasing Peachpits training books (Apple certified) as an accompaniment to the Applecare Techician Training kit.(for those who like hardcopy manuals)
