I've got a Powerbook 5300cs currently running 7.5 that I'd like to upgrade to 8.0 from the 8.0 installer CD that I have. However, I have no CD-ROM for the powerbook. I do have the SCSI adaptor so I can boot it in SCSI target mode on my beige G3. The problem is the 8.0 installer won't run on the G3. I get messages like "The Mac OS 8 Installer Script does not recognize this computer. Please use the orignal disks..."
I'm assuming this is because the G3 came with 8.5, but Apple's Site lists the G3's as compatible with 8.0. The next real installer I have is a 9.2.1, and that's not compatible.
Any suggestions?

IIRC, you can create a set of bootable install floppies using Disk Copy and your OS 8 install CD...

Disk Copy 6.5 can be downloaded here:

Good luck!
