Hi

anyone had any success with getting the optimal iPhone pricing in Oz?

I am looking at getting the 16Gb and have no idea as to what the value of the plans that Telstra is offering - I've heard of the pricing but not the value offered. According to the person I spoke with today Telstra has free WiFi at hotspots around the country. Looking at their map it doesn't seem to be that great an offer. And nothing is in writing.

So far all I can tell is that Optus has a pre-paid $70/month capped plan for 6 months with 700Mb of downloads and (supposedly) $650 worth of calls (per month) with a $849 upfront handset cost OR a $59 post paid capped plan with 500Mb of downloads and $350 of value on a 12 month plan

Has anyone else made sense of what is on offer? The first plan costs $1,269 and the latter $1,212

I think the 11th is going to be a shambles

Telstra's leaked plans are mind-bogglingly crap:
