A list of all tubes still being manufactured worldwide, and the manufacturers.

The only three remaining plants still making the standard audio equipment tubes are in Russia (Sovtek/Reflector), Slovakia (JJ Electronics), and Yugoslavia (EI Electronics in Serbia, possibly destroyed in NATO attacks in 1999). Sino in China recently stopped making audio instrument/amplifier tubes, though the power-amp tubes are still being built (5881, 6550, 6L6, and EL34).

From what I can see, my Hammonds run on a dying supply of 12BH7, 6X4 (EZ90), 6C4 (EC90), and 6AU6 (EF94). Prices will increase and once they're gone, they're gone.

The only way to keep these babies running then will be to convert their amps to different tubes or transistors.

Supply and demand.

I have a feeling if the demand is there, the supply will be met.

Maybe?

This place sells high quality tubes.

I need a good Oscilloscope to bias my amp properly.

nice guit but I'm not a fan of that creamy color. I'm more of a dark person... kinda like Paul Banks from Interpol (black guitar, black everything )

I would trade it for my Ibanez Gio, tho (I'd even pay shipping )

congrats man

edit: that mp3 sounded amazing...

I used to not be either. I used to like the metallic finishes and black, black.

But I kinda dig the vintage worn in look now.

Racist!!1 No all jokes aside, I know what you mean. Simple.

Problem is black shows smudges.

Scalloped fingerboards are NOT like playing a regular fingerboard. I'm not saying they can't be played, but it's almost like playing a different instrument -- and chording and such is a pain in the arse.

I want to hear more guitar recordings. I'm trying to get some inspiration to get better. I should post something and get razzed, and maybe that would get my butt in gear.

Go listen to Good Charlotte. That's what happens to people who have no talent and get produced by Bob Rock. I suggest listening to The Chronicles of Life And Death. Listen to the transition between the first and second track. Don't believe me, download it.

Bob did a decent job with The Cult's Sonic Temple.

I give him that.

Is it a coincidence that Bob's been the producer of Metallica's last 5 albums, all but one have sucked? *Sniff* I hope that the band wouldn't crumble under such an arrogant producer.

That's another dilemma. Some dumpy blond girl has my sister into all that pop-punk/emo/alternative/garbage/whatever stuff. There's all these Good Charlotte and Simple Plan posters. Yuck. A peek into mine shows: AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Beatles, Cream, Clapton, Jethro Tull, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Metallica, Floyd, Stones, Rush, SRV, Yes, and Zappa posters. And I got a huge Old Glory tapestry.

God I wish that crap would go away. It's unfortunate that all those bands play LP with the same 3 chords and no solos. Don't forget the "We're so dark, our nails are painted black and we have eye liner on" attitude. Ugh.

I think that has more to do with Metallica sucking than Bob.

How did it comes to this?

And why doesn't emo and punk just die?

I have a new addition, too. I got a Screamn' Blues pedal. It's not bad, for the price at least. I'm still tight on cash.

BTW, Zimph, is there any limit to the number of pedals you can string together? And is it easy to do so with different brands? Any you would sugguest besides distortion?

I would also like to know if analogika considers Keith Jarrett a 'incessant noodler.'

Technically, you can string as many pedals together as you want as long as you have power. Eventually, though, you're going to kill your signal and introduce all kids of crap to said signal as well. If you're into a million effects, it's sometimes better to get a processor rather than individual pedals, or both (begin selective with the pedals).

One of my recent additions was Radial JDI direct box. Holy freaking crap, is this thing sweet -- and it's DEAD silent.

ANY component you insert into the signal path will affect (degrade) sound quality. Some more, some less.

Most FX pedals do NOT have a true bypass, meaning that the signal always runs through some of the pedal's circuitry, so they will degrade quality even if switched off.

You may note above that I specifically mentioned Jarrett.

And no, striking a tasteful balance between chording, "simpler" lines, and brilliant arpeggios and runs - in other words, artful improvisation -, does not qualify as "noodling" in my book.

Though, of course, "tasteful" is in the eye of the beholder.
