Go to Apple - Mac OS X and it takes you automatically to Apple - Apple - Mac OS X - Leopard Sneak Peek.

Is this new? They've got some nice demos of the various Leopard apps on there. I like the "Spaces" functionality the best.

No, that's not new. It's been up since Steve-O introduced Leopard at WWDC '06.

EDIT: And I still can't figure out why there isn't an easier way to access this page.

Am I the only one who is sick of these silly cute nicknames for the OS versions? Whenever I find a piece of software whose author(s) only list the silly nickname in the requirements I'm completely lost. WTF version is one cat species versus another? What sense does that make?

It makes about as much sense as having the first version of your operating system called "Mac OS Ten Ten Point Oh."

Seriously, when they get beyond this OSX think will it's be OS 11 or OSXX or what? I heard that 10.7.3.2 is going to be really snappy though.

I believe Apple does this because you cannot trademark a number by itself. "10.5" is not easily marketable. "Leopard" is. It's really marketing's fault.

I don't mind it, but it gets confusing when referring to past versions of OSX

Apple Help: "Are you running Tiger, Panther, Jaguar, Puma or Cheetah?"
Customer: "WTF?"

I think more people recognize Apple's operating system as OSX than as MacOS. So, if Apple decides that the next version would be OSXI, there would probably be alot of market confusion. I suspect we'll be seeing OSX for quite awhile.

If we're gonna start calling it OS X 11.0 soon, we're gonna need to start pronouncing the X as "ex" rather than "ten". It would be a huge blunder to ship a product called "Mac OS Ten Eleven".

I've hung out with Mac dudes since long before OSX came out and I've NEVER heard anyone ever call it OS-Ten.... not even in the Apple store I don't think. I remember Acura actually changed the 'official' pronunciation of its name after a few years from "ah-COOR-ah" to "Aaa-cure-a" because nobody ever said it right. Besides, OS-Ten sounds so 2001 to me..... aren't we up to OS-14.8 by now?

It is. That's how Steve and Bertrand and all them say it. But I pronounced it like a letter for a long time too.

Soon? 10.5 isn't even out yet, and it has been almost 6 years since 10.0. There's probably still a while to go before it becomes a problem :o)

I pronounce it "ten". Pronouncing it as "ex" reminds me of some people pronouncing "100 MB's" as "100 em-bee's".

It's meant to be pronounced like the peanut butter, but nobody actually says it that way and it sounds stupid, so I say it like "gift" anyway.

It stands for Graphic, not Giraffic. It's a file format, not a peanut butter.

I'm a "ten" guy. Almost every Mac user I speak to is too, although there are one or two that have always said "ex." I don't think they did that because of this "problem" though.

The logo is a P, for Parallels Coherency Mode. And there's an option in Snapz Pro not to show the cursor.
