Sorry if this has been asked previously but I did search of the forum before posting.

With the Time Capsule can you access the built-in HD without running a Leopard-based Mac?

I need to setup a wireless network at my Mom's house and want a Time Capsule so she can
get wireless connectivity and have a remote HD for backups (using SuperDuper). I want to
do all this without having to update her to Leopard. So, will the Time Capsule let you access
the built-in HD from a Mac as just another networked volume or is it only accessible to a
Leopard-based Mac via the Time Machine software?

I can tell you positively, yes. I have an iMac running 10.4, and I set-up and access the TC just fine.
