Apple is looking to expand its
trade-in program for iPhones to developing markets.

pointed to
job listings on Apple's site seeking a Reuse (Trade-In) Worldwide Program Manager. Whoever fills the position, according to the description, will work on current and future "Global Reuse (Trade-In) Programs for Apple Online Store, Education, Retail and the Reseller Channel."
The listing notes that the position will oversee development and implementation of programs in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the Latin America-Caribbean region. Apple currently does not have trade-in programs in operation in those areas. Currently, the iPhone maker operates trade-in programs in the United States and the
United Kingdom, and it is
working to expand those operations to European Apple Stores.
Apple's retail stores have become a hub for its trade-in programs.
Apple's job listing notes that the candidate will be responsible for "[scaling] these programs to keep Apple on the leading edge of this emerging mega trend," describing that duty in particular as a major priority. The candidate will also work with sales and leasing organizations to grow new programs that increase Apple's presence in the secondary electronics market.
Apple has had a reuse and recycling program for more than a year, but this year saw the company tweaking the program to allow customers to bring devices into Apple retail stores to trade in. Recently, Apple
altered its policies regarding water damage, allowing customers to bring in iPhones and iPads that had their liquid contact indicators activated.
