TNO has produced the largest digital panoramic photo in the world. So, what do we mean by large? After all, modern consumer cameras can easily take a picture with 5 million pixels. Well, we are talking about a photo of completely different dimensions. One with 2.5 billion pixels - that's 500 times more pixels. If this photo were printed, it would measure 6.67 m by 2.67 m (300 dpi). The photograph shows Delft and its surroundings in the autumn of 2004. It was taken from the top of the Electrical Engineering faculty of Delft University, at a height of about 100 m, by TNO.
I found my own flat in the pic (and where i live is several miles from Delft) The red pixel in the inset shows the part of the picture that is shown, click the image to go to the on-line viewer (don't worry about bandwidth to much, this stuff is smart (ish))

These people are Americans. Don't expect anything meaningful or... uh... normalcy...

It's not one image. It's several images taken in succession that were put together. You can see that by the people missing limbs and heads in the picture.

I was about to say the same thing. TV Photoshop in real life! You can make out the license plate on cars really deep into the picture. That is really cool.

There was an article about this pic on the BBC last week. They showed a picture of the "missing man" where two images overlapped--taken at different times--and all it shows is his upper body moving through the frame. Pretty cool pic if you ask me.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.
