So I figured I'd look at my 70's collection and I must say I'm embarrased by my #1 most played. Here they are:

1) Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me, Susan Sarandon, Rocky Horror Soundtrack.

2) Fat Old Sun, Pink Floyd, Atom Heart Mother

3) Speak to Me, Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon

4) Crazy Love, Van Morrison, Moondance

5) Moondance, Van Morrison, Moondance

List yours...and be honest.

1. Out On The Weekend Neil Young, Harvest

2. Place To Be Nick Drake, Pink Moon

3. New Coat of Paint Tom Waits, The Heart of Saturday Night

4. Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here

4. War Pigs/Luke's Wall Black Sabbath, Paranoid

5. Let's Get it On Marvin Gaye, Let's Get it On

Although I did cheat a bit, because I had more Nick Drake in the top 5...however, most of the songs on Pink Moon are so short they get played a lot more than anything else....

One of my favorite playlists is my 70s list. But my top 5 played in the list are not necessarily my favorites, just the ones I've had the longest:

Only Living Boy in New York, Simon & Garfunkel
Diamonds and Rust, Joan Baez
Just One Look, Linda Ronstadt
Cactus Tree, Joni Mitchell
Operator, Manhatten Transfer

Not very hip I these days, I guess, but I like them.

Sadly the year-tag is not very well used in my collection. Of the 18 songs that purports to be within the 70s decade, there's only one that is registered with being played once:

Pink Floyd - Have a cigar

This is absolutely the honest truth from the smart playlist I just made. Had I tried to say what I thought was on the list, none of these would have been there. Woah!

Grandma's Feather Bed, John Denver
Always On My Mind, Willie Nelson
If You Leave Me Now, Chicago
20th Century Fox Fanfare, John Williams
Apples And Bananas, Raffi

70s. I have a little nostalgia for that time, even though I was born in 1970. "Top 5 songs" is too restrictive for me.

KISS - Destroyer, Alive II, Dynasty (I know!) and Ace Frehley's solo album

ELP - Brain Salad Surgery and Works I.

Rush - By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Xanadu, Hemispheres, 2112, well - almost anything from them.

Scorpions - They Need a Million, This is my song, longing for fire, sun in my hand, we'll burn the sky (these guys did some GREAT stuff before 80s cheese metal took hold)
