What exactly makes someone well known, or famous/infamous on Macnn forums? By mods/admins as well as other users.
I'm gonna try to put in as many selections as possible.
remember this is a poll about "TYPES" of people not actual people so please try to keep the heat low.

All of them, everyone is memorable
that is not invisible - visible text
formatting helps.

I'm the shy and timid type, which doesn't really lead to much 'popularity'

Any recognition I have around here seems to come from sig threads where I receive much praise for mine. Makes me feel all good inside

Honestly, I LIKE all the different personalities around here, and if it were just one or two types who frequented here, it would be a lot less interesting.

Even those who love to be abrasive and maddening have surprised me with remarkable kindness or insight.

Where else can you find such diversity?

Well obviously the psycho nut-job will achieve more notoriety than the quiet nice guy; doesn't mean we like him more though.

I don't think there's one popular person on MacNN over all. There are certain groups, and people who fall into multiple groups. For example lately I've found that certain people are incredibly inept, have no clue what they're talking about, but spout off crap, the sad part is they'll often get people agreeing with them. At the same time you'll have five other people say, my goodness your statement makes no sense!
And then you have the people that don't care.

This happens in like every group, so one person may be popular for one reason with someone but not with others. I know Zimph and I have both gotten fan mail almost because we'll take stands for stuff, I think he's gotten more than me, and I assume other people have. But there are also people that send hate mail and really not nice things... like dead horse heads... in beds... my room mate didn't like that one...

But I think there are a few people that are generally respected.

Hey, I'm the mastur[de]bator. Debating for the sheer pleasure of it.

Because people here are intelligent and opinionated, often a lethal combination in real life, but here it fits in great!

I love you guys!

I voted for, Nice guy: Well spoken, charismatic, nice to all members. Believe myself to be a nice guy. Not really sure about the well spoken or charismatic. I defintely try to be nice to all members. Also am shy & timid.

Funny this topic should come up, as I've been thinking about this on my own for like the past 2 months.

My post count is getting up there, I've contributed and started on almost every imaginable, and I've always tried to be polite and open minded.

However, I seem to get little to no recontion for this. Sometimes I still feel like I'm a new comer here, while those who have been here less and and way fewer posts seem to get more attention then I.

It's like being back in high school all over again, where everyone knows the popular kids, and I'm just a fly on the wall.

Hopefully, one day I can make it to an expo, meet some of you nice people in person, and you'll see that I am not a lowly fly, but a fine young man....or so says my Grandmother.

I think the people who end up as most popular around here (at least to me) are the ones who give you a glimpse of their real selves outside the forums. Some (but not all) of the MacNN characters that seem to stick in my mind the most:

Cheerios/Juan Valdes. Most of the time, a discussion with one of them ends up being a discussion with both of them as they banter amongst themselves thru forum posts. Other couples or groups that are friends in "real life" are similarly memorable.

Mindfad, Adam Betts, Moki, et al. These guys all do work that people in the forums talk about. We can see what they are up to outside the forums. Makes them seem more real somehow.

MikeM3x. Gave us a play by play of his life all the way to losing his apartment and falling off the forums.

Ca$h. Besides inciting riots and being generally annoying a lot of the time, we also saw tons of pics of his life as he progressed to marriage.

Many others .. but basically the people I remember the most are the ones who I associate with something other than forum posts.
