Unlike a botched handling of a non-DRM'd version of Photoshop CS2 that was briefly available without registration last month, Adobe and the Computer History Museum have announced that the original source code for Photoshop version 1.0.1 (circa 1990) is being made public and is now downloadable for free. The download contains over 128,000 lines of code in a mixture of Pascal and 68000 Assembly language, but does not include the MacApp applications library that was at the time licensed from Apple. The code is for non-commercial use only, however, and requires that downloaders agree to the terms of a license.

Apple (cider) Shop changes name due to flood of tech support calls A store in a small area in Norfolk in the UK that sells apple cider and juice has been "forced" to change its name after a rising "inundation" of tech support calls from customers mostly confusing the shop with an iPhone and Mac authorized repair depot. Because of identical name, the cider company -- known as the Apple Store -- has its number listed right next to an actual Apple Store in the area. The Norwich establishment's owner, Geoff Fisher, says he gets up to 24 calls a week for computer and technical advice, notes The Independent. He generally advises people to come and have some cider to help alleviate the stress of tech troubles.
