I got a new mac laptop. iph is synched with the old laptop. When I plug it into the new computer and want to play a song from the playlist, the list is all grayed out. How do get it to play songs on the new one too?

You have to transfer your library to the new machine OR use home sharing in iTunes between the machines - both have to be running for that though.

iPhone can't be used as portable disk, the music or video files in iPhone can't be played by iTunes directly. You must transfer them from your iPhone to your local machine or iTunes first and then play them.
I know that iMacsoft iPhone to Mac Transfer can do it. But it can't transfer Contacts, Calender and app.
