Looking for a thunderbolt ssd to boot from. Bus powered is OK, but not required. So far the only option I've seen is the Elgato, but it has mixed reviews. Any ideas?

LaCie makes one for $150 more than the Elgato model, but it has two Tbolt ports.

Seagate Thunderbolt Adapter for $100 and any SATA drive is what I'm using.

This is basically a Thunderbolt to SATA adapter. You don't even need to use a GoFlex drive enclosure (if you do t mind naked drives).

Great suggestion, thank you. I see from the mixed reviews on Amazon that some people are experiencing inconsistent behavior with the adaptor. Can you speak to it's performance?

Edit: The desktop version received better reviews, I may purchase this one instead:

I've been quite happy with it and haven't encountered any issues. It even recognized and enabled me to recover a drive that was unresponsive under USB2.
